How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

whyallsteve,

It's option expiry day for varying levels of contracts (Month, Quarter etc) look at the thread below for some good background. But basically form about 10:10 to 10:30ish expect to see the FTSE make some sharp moves that you would not normally wittness.

'triple' because the FTSE futures, FTSE options, and share options all expire today.

Scripophilist - 18 Mar 2005 09:55 - 1894 of 10502

My finger is on the trigger!

Kayak - 18 Mar 2005 09:58 - 1895 of 10502

Boring so far. The 9.00 line is badly placed :-)

Kayak - 18 Mar 2005 10:10 - 1896 of 10502

The 10.00 line is much better placed. There has been a drop in the 9-10 and so it 'ought' to spring back up at some stage 10-11. Unless it doesn't, of course.

Scripophilist - 18 Mar 2005 10:16 - 1897 of 10502

Boing!

Kayak - 18 Mar 2005 10:17 - 1898 of 10502

Scripophilist - 18 Mar 2005 15:15 - 1909 of 10502

Some late money coming for Celestial Gold. I feel pretty confident about CG I don't think he will like the ground.

Scripophilist - 18 Mar 2005 15:16 - 1910 of 10502

Congrats Harlosh on the trade I thought it stuck out like a sore thumb so I went a bit over board on it. Really pleased to complete it on such a big race.
