Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

How about.
There was a black Englishman and a black Welshman, who went into a pub,
they were half way through buying a round, when they were joined by a white Scotsman.

The underlying problem here isn't the fact stores policy be it TSCO,MRW,SBRY etc is to prosecute all shoplifters when caught either by security or staff. 1st problem is how to detain them until the Police arrive, especially if they are high on drugs or alcohol. 2nd problem is when the bobby arrives eventually and carts them off, he is then stuck in a mire of paperwork for the next 4hours. In this economic climate this sort of crime will inevatably increase, so it beggars belief that Police resources already stretched should be cut. Add in the fact that existing serving Police Officers are being asked to take a pay cut by paying even more into their pensions for less doesn't bode well.

TANKS - Not sure how that would work. Theft is a criminal offence tried in a Magistrates Court, are you suggesting that the law be changed that theft from a supermarket be downgraded to a civil offence? If so where do you draw the line?

no i am saying that the stores shoud have the same power as a police officer at the stores . leaving the police to do more work on big crime .

A criminal is a criminal regardless of its religion, country of origin, colour of skin etc.
They shouldn't say a black criminal or muslim subside bomber or jewish banker, etc.
The news agencies that associate the criminals with their race are the real racist in my view. They do not allow the communities to develop and people live peacefully with respect they deserve. People get worried about their neighbours only because of skin colour or religion, etc ...

tanks - in principle, i have no objection at all to the australian points system (or similar), but of course things are never quite that simple ......
for example,
in the event of another idi amin situation, do the doors stay firmly shut even though the refugees have genuinely been forced out through no fault or wish of their own?
or
if you accept that uk is a member of eu, should entry be refused to those citizens who wish to come over to work?
if so, does that mean that you apply the same rules to the welsh, irish and scots?

Judge rules Abu Qatada 'will not be deported'
Muslim cleric Abu Qatada will not be deported to Jordan, after he won his appeal at the Special Immigration Appeals Commission (Siac).
The European Court of Human Rights had earlier blocked Mr Qatada's removal because of concerns that evidence obtained by torture would be used against him.

now that is exactly the sort of thing that brings the human rights act into total disrepute ..... should we really care what happens to someone if he is deported - and there seems little argument in this case that deportation would be fully warranted?
