FTSE + FTSE 250 - consider trading (FTSE)

cynic - 20 Oct 2007 12:12

rather than pick out individual stocks to trade, it can often be worthwhile to trade the indices themselves, especially in times of high volatility.

for those so inclined, i attach below charts for FTSE and FTSE 250, though one might equally be tempted to trade Dow or S&P, which is significantly broader in its coverage, or even NASDAQ

for ease of reading, i have attached 1 year and 3 month charts in each instance

cynic - 24 Nov 2015 16:35 - 18959 of 21973

so i see .... i got out a bit early, but assuredly no complaints

however, DOW needs to climb another 60/70 points and stay there to break the current trend

What did I say blue after 4.30 again.. the little rascal -):

cynic - 24 Nov 2015 17:06 - 18961 of 21973

DOW is certainly fizzing, or relatively so
it was down about 120 earlier but now +21

i should prob sit on my hands, but one feels there ought to be money to be made ...... but not sure whether up or down

if it falls back to 17,770 then a possible buy

cynic - 25 Nov 2015 10:34 - 18962 of 21973

both FTSE and DOW currently challenging resistances - 6330 and 17865
fingers x'ed and breaths held that these can be breached and held

Stan - 25 Nov 2015 10:51 - 18963 of 21973

Absolutely.

cynic - 26 Nov 2015 08:28 - 18964 of 21973

FTSE - 6330 certainly breached, so perhaps a decent run north from here

DOW - closed below the 17,865 resistance but currently (cash) having another run at it

Stan - 26 Nov 2015 08:30 - 18965 of 21973

Dow closed for Thanksgiving remember this afternoon.

cynic - 26 Nov 2015 08:59 - 18966 of 21973

so it is
had forgotten about that

Stan - 26 Nov 2015 10:21 - 18967 of 21973

Also a half day closing on Friday.

cynic - 26 Nov 2015 12:31 - 18968 of 21973

nevertheless, cash DOW has been a profitable trading ground this morning, though i only bought very lightly ...... 17,915 is the next resistance (currently 17,880) but shall close that in any case before london closes today

HARRYCAT - 26 Nov 2015 12:50 - 18969 of 21973

.....Ready for Black Friday then Mr C?!!!

cynic - 26 Nov 2015 13:15 - 18970 of 21973

i avoid sales like the plague ....... ditto henley regatta :-)

REM (Rare Earth Minerals)
anyone know anything about this little charmer, other than that winifrith likes to short it?

HARRYCAT - 26 Nov 2015 14:36 - 18972 of 21973

There is a thread REM. Not one I follow at all. Penny dreadful.

cynic - 27 Nov 2015 08:28 - 18973 of 21973

REM
aaarrrggghhh! ..... that crook david lenigas looks to be involved
that should be sufficient warning to avoid in itself!

cynic - 27 Nov 2015 08:29 - 18974 of 21973

FTSE + DOW
no obvious reason to get one's feet wet today
markets have opened weak; dow on half day and w/e ahead

HARRYCAT - 27 Nov 2015 08:39 - 18975 of 21973

It's them pesky chinese again who have knocked the markets overnight.

Claret Dragon - 01 Dec 2015 05:39 - 18976 of 21973

Hard to call which way to go past few days.

cynic - 01 Dec 2015 12:09 - 18977 of 21973

it may be something of a worry that FTSE cannot hold 6400 nor DOW 16,800

Stan - 01 Dec 2015 12:14 - 18978 of 21973

Relax Bamber.. you got a job yet?
