FTSE + FTSE 250 - consider trading (FTSE)

cynic - 20 Oct 2007 12:12

rather than pick out individual stocks to trade, it can often be worthwhile to trade the indices themselves, especially in times of high volatility.

for those so inclined, i attach below charts for FTSE and FTSE 250, though one might equally be tempted to trade Dow or S&P, which is significantly broader in its coverage, or even NASDAQ

for ease of reading, i have attached 1 year and 3 month charts in each instance

Hard to call which way to go past few days.

cynic - 01 Dec 2015 12:09 - 18977 of 21973

it may be something of a worry that FTSE cannot hold 6400 nor DOW 16,800

Stan - 01 Dec 2015 12:14 - 18978 of 21973

Relax Bamber.. you got a job yet?

jimmy b - 01 Dec 2015 12:30 - 18979 of 21973

This is an early picture of cynic Stan ,he's a man of leisure ..

cynic - 01 Dec 2015 12:41 - 18980 of 21973

Stan - 01 Dec 2015 12:58 - 18981 of 21973

A Refined British Dandy? not sure about the refined bit but go along with rest James.

"off to dubai on biz tomorrow".. yeah right.

So when you get back from your holiday are you going to "get a job then"

Fred1new - 01 Dec 2015 13:54 - 18982 of 21973

He is a peace "envoy" going there to look for the pluckings.

8-)

jimmy b - 01 Dec 2015 15:50 - 18983 of 21973

Gone short every time the FTSE touched 6400 today ,worked so far.

cynic - 01 Dec 2015 15:52 - 18984 of 21973

most assuredly going to dubai to look for new biz in the long run, and also to maintain contact with existing clients

it's not a place i'ld choose to go on holiday, but from a biz trip point of view, it's pleasant enough between late october and mid/end april

cynic - 01 Dec 2015 15:57 - 18985 of 21973

good logic jimmy, but with dow forging ahead once more, beware the champagne cork

Stan - 01 Dec 2015 15:59 - 18986 of 21973

He's used the word "assuredly", which tells me it's definitely a holiday!.. shame on you for telling porkies.

Unlikely to touch anything market wise until at least Friday when the NFPs come out.

cynic - 01 Dec 2015 16:03 - 18987 of 21973

jimmy b - 01 Dec 2015 16:58 - 18991 of 21973

I missed out on that one ,could have got in again at 6406 after the bell.

cynic - 01 Dec 2015 19:33 - 18992 of 21973

6400 broken and holding though not by a a great deal ..... tomorrow may be interesting :-)

jimmy b - 02 Dec 2015 12:44 - 18993 of 21973

Had a short on the FTSE from 6430 ,although not really following the DOW/DAX/CAC

cynic - 03 Dec 2015 07:30 - 18994 of 21973

following the slump late in usa following CA shootings and the knock-on effect for FTSE, worth noting that cash FTSE has limped back above 6400

jimmy b - 03 Dec 2015 08:37 - 18995 of 21973

FTSE not following the others again today .
