The chart looks like one long suicide note.

I'd be closing them short s mitzy - HBOS make an announcement and they'll fly back up - I've took the gamble at 1.42, total portfolio now resting on these, 850 Million profit last interims, drop is well over done - be 2.00 not 1.00 sooner than you think. (hopefully) But you win some you lose some !!

Ticked up 14 points while writing that last post - think I might close position if it gets to 180/190 though !

spitfire they filled at 1.46 ..trying to get out at 1.81 which its just gone through but not proving easy

HBOS notes the current volatility in bank share prices following developments in the United States. HBOS has a strong capital base and continues to fund very satisfactorily.

Didn't see first post Mitzy - just seen second though - doesn't sound like there in trouble one little bit, back up over 2.00 by close IMHO.. Waiting to see how much Barclays had tied up with Lehman, can see Barclays doing exactly the same -drop like a stone, It will be well overdone when it happens and another big pay off if you can time it right :-)

30% profit - but going to stick with it, think there s more in it yet - porfit- taking should kick in soon and drop it back to 1.75/1.80 ish then back up to 2.00 by close :-) stop limits in place though !! Nice day really !

Barclays make me laugh - they have secured a deal to buy parts of Lehman, I bet there the parts they already have millions in already !!

Dow just turned green - hopefully have a little rally back up to close now.

Reckon they'll stick at 2.00 Mitzy - question is do you hold over night or take the profits !! Got a good feeling on these though now, slightest bit of goods news (Statement on news will do for me ) and they could gain another 10/15 % tomorrow.

Harrycat can see some bigwig tonite on telly telling everyone how safe a bet they are and see them jumping 10/15% tomorrow - then i'll be pissed off, but like you say better being sensible, if you said there you are have ****** free HBOS shares this morning I'd have been well happy. Beauty is there in an ISA so G.B doesn't get is greasy mitts on it either. Cant wait to see my bank manager it'll really piss him off !! (Thats if he's still got a job)

Best not to think of 'what could be', nordc. You have made a decision & you are well in profit. If every time I invested I made 41% I would be a very happy chappy! Just think, If you worked for a merchant bank you could be out of a job tomorrow.

Hi all ................ I couldn't manage to trade in these today.

Well done to all those that had the balls and means to trade proftably ......... you deserve every success.

Did anybody get any qoutes on the price ............ or did you trade electronically, by leaving price and hoping for the best.

Which platforms do you recommend?

Either way if you made a profit, congrats once again.

used waterhouse which was next to useless for real time quotes. Although it took an hour to put on a two way trade via limits but having said that they filled 10 points better than my limits so very happy. I always thought the brokers pocketed the diference but not on this instance

I was trading through Barclays Stockbrokers and believe me my arse was going a few times - because at one point a stop loss didnt trigger and when i tried manually i couldnt get in - by the time i came back to Moneyam they had started to rise - same happened when i cashed out about 4.00pm but it went through second time around. See what today brings, yesterday was a one off for me - i put the entire portfolio into them for a couple of hours and was 'lucky' it could have gone the other way. Mind you at the levels i bought at i would have held. I wouldn't do it again like that - but it was a bit of a rush, its hard being cautious when it goes like that - and could easy take you for the lot. Pure Greed takes over your senses, wont happen again though - again I called it right - imagine all the shorters at 1.40 thinking they were on to something and lost a packet !! Better than horse-racing though !!
