PROBLEM MoneyAM Security Certificate EXPIRED

apple - 10 Mar 2005 10:15

The Security Certificate for MoneyAM EXPIRED on 9th March.

This means that the login page can't get through Norton Firewall.

The only way I can log in is to use a PC without a firewall.

Please fix this.

apple,

Just another thought, can you go into Norton and set MoneyAM a a trusted site please? You may have already done this but thought I would suggest it anyway

edgarssonian,

This is a different issue - your problem is caused by a cookie setting.

Please click on tools at the top of explorer and then click on internet options. Once there click on Privacy, and then on advanced.

Here click in the box next to override automatic cookie handling - this will open the rest of the options up - at the bottom, make sure there is a tick in the box next to always allow session cookies.

Ok this and then restart your pc and this should solve your problem. If you still have an issue, E mail me ian@moneyam.com

When I log on I get a warning I'm being redirected? so i just click on yes, no problem, I have Norton firewall which was installed this year.

Priscilla - 10 Mar 2005 17:01 - 22 of 43

I have the same experience as mickeyskint reported in post 7. I normally launch two windows first thing each morning and it's only the second window that brings up this 'you are being redirected to a non-secure site....' box. I clicked 'yes' the first couple of times and then thought about it. I realised I could create a workaround by opening the second window (IE by the way) whilst visiting any other site and then returned to AM and no box appeared. No idea why this has just started happening but I've always believed I'm BETA testing some parrallel AM site anyway, so not bothered!

aldwickk/Priscilla

thanks for the feedback, I am not in the office at the moment, but I will let JT know.

There is a problem with the login in that it is single-threaded, i.e. it can only cope with a single window logging in at a time. So if you create two IE windows, type password into one, press return, then do the same in the other before the first have finished, it can and does go wrong. That might be your problem Priscilla.

aldwickk

I'm getting the same problem. I will contact JT in the morning. He wants the exact wording on the redirect box, so I'll get it in the morning.

IAN, I have done all those things & have reinstalled everything.

If you reread what I said above you will also see that I said Win98 logs in OK with IE6.

That win98 PC is an old, slow PC.

The problem is with Win2k Pro & IE6 & your site login.

After I reinstalled EVERYTHING, the firewall seems not to matter anymore.

In Win2k Pro & IE6, Click on Login & I get
The page cannot be displayed etc etc...
http://www.moneyam.com/action/user/login
Is the URL of the page that displays the above message.

Madison - 10 Mar 2005 17:24 - 27 of 43

Same as Priscilla/mickeyskint: getting the redirection box. Started happening quite recently. I just click 'yes' and continue. moneyam otherwise working fine. Didn't there used to be an option on that redirect box not to redisplay it? It's not there now.

apple - you have my sympathy, I've been to a very similar place with comdirect. It's very annoying to be told to change your IE browser when you need it for something else. I've just given up trying to figure it out. I have to use Opera to edit a limit order in comdirect (even though I can place it through IE). Gets a bit stressful if you want to act fast.

apple,

If your computer is failing to load the secure pages then you may need to update your IE browser to 128bit (windows update)

You can check what it's cypher strength is by clicking help/about IE, and seeing what the cypher strength is.

I've been looking at the redirection box issue and think I know what may be causing it. We'll be investigating further tomorrow.

On start up I get the following message:-

SECURITY ALERT

You are about to be redirected to a connection that is not secure.

The information you are sending to the current site might be retransmitted to a non secure site. Do you wish to continue.

Yes/No

I just press Yes and I'm in. But it is a little annoying and concerning.

mickeyskint,

The guys are looking into this and we will update as soon as possible,

apple - 11 Mar 2005 10:03 - 31 of 43

Madison,
Thanks for the sympathy.

Ian & JT,

Cypher strength is ok.

The firewall was not the problem, it turns out that it was just giving me info about the problem ie. it told me that that something had changed with regard to the Security Certificate.

After I had reinstalled Win2K Pro & everything else, it still wouldn't display the login page.

However, I have now solved the problem by repeatedly reinstalling the numerous IE6 patches in random order until it worked.

You switched secure certs on Wednesday, why did this cause such a problem?????????????????

It was working fine before!

IanT(MoneyAM) - 11 Mar 2005 10:04 - 32 of 43

apple,

The guys are working to find out what caused this. I will update as soon as they have reported back to me.

As soon as this is resolved I will let you know,

Nitefly - 11 Mar 2005 10:11 - 35 of 43

If it helps, I developed this same problem (as explained by MS above) when it came to logging in this morning. - It was fine yesterday. I too just clicked yes and of course it connected.

There have been no changes to my system apart from a trojan check by Microsoft Update and Microsoft AntiSpyware updated its definitions a couple of days back.

TullettJ (MoneyAM) - 11 Mar 2005 10:11 - 36 of 43

apple,

We had to change secure certificates so that some new bits that we have been working on would work correctly.

all,

We have identified the cause of the insecure redirect issue and are currently working to have a fix in place. This should happen today.

apple - 11 Mar 2005 10:25 - 37 of 43

JT,

But why did it cause such problems?

If I knew why then I maybe could avoid it happening again.

TullettJ (MoneyAM) - 11 Mar 2005 10:29 - 38 of 43

apple,

Running an upto date browser / norton firewall setup would have helped in the first instance.

Ensuring your browser is completely up to date with *all* patches would would in your second problem instance.

But the redirect problem is definately ours :)
