FTSE + FTSE 250 - consider trading (FTSE)

cynic - 20 Oct 2007 12:12

rather than pick out individual stocks to trade, it can often be worthwhile to trade the indices themselves, especially in times of high volatility.

for those so inclined, i attach below charts for FTSE and FTSE 250, though one might equally be tempted to trade Dow or S&P, which is significantly broader in its coverage, or even NASDAQ

for ease of reading, i have attached 1 year and 3 month charts in each instance

i don't want a bunch of migrants trying to join me :-)

in honesty, i wouldn't come here on hol, or not unless someone else was paying!

i am keeping my fingers x'ed - as can't hold my breath that long - that monday will not bring a swift reversal of what was seen last night

FTSE pressing on through 6300 and holding would be a starting relief, but i'm not convinced it'll happen

DFGO - 07 Dec 2015 11:39 - 19036 of 21973

can anybody give current price of OEX and AEX they do not appear to be working
on ADVFN the whole thread seems to be repeating for some reason.

many thanks DFGO

DOW looking very soggy and dull
any half-hearted rally back over 16,700 is short-lived and then back down again 40/50 points
now bedtime over here, but it sure doesn't look too good for the morning

Carnage !!

Claret Dragon - 08 Dec 2015 20:59 - 19041 of 21973

No sign of Christmas Spirit just yet. My hunch is next week for the reversal. Hope so!!!!!!!!!

cynic - 09 Dec 2015 05:28 - 19042 of 21973

DOW currently just below 17,600 and FTSE 6,150
nothing to lighten the gloom in either

cynic - 09 Dec 2015 14:08 - 19043 of 21973

DOW now wondering whether or not to break south of 17,500

jimmy b - 09 Dec 2015 14:10 - 19044 of 21973

Going to be a mother of a rebound at some point ,i'm long FTSE and staying in .

cynic - 09 Dec 2015 14:11 - 19045 of 21973

i've gone tiny long dow at 17503

cynic - 09 Dec 2015 14:32 - 19046 of 21973

banked at 17,544 for no good reason other than that it was a respectable and quick profit

jimmy b - 09 Dec 2015 15:42 - 19047 of 21973

Too early ..

cynic - 09 Dec 2015 16:16 - 19048 of 21973

true but i'm working in dubai

cynic - 09 Dec 2015 17:37 - 19049 of 21973

any reason for the 250 point about turn on dow?
we are now in pretty nasty territory even in the event of a dcb

jimmy b - 09 Dec 2015 17:46 - 19050 of 21973

Can't see anything as yet ,everything just went in to meltdown .

Chris Carson - 09 Dec 2015 17:49 - 19051 of 21973

Reality setting in,., Time of the year, sell the rallies, wait till last week in Dec when volume is thin? This too will pass :0)

cynic - 09 Dec 2015 17:49 - 19052 of 21973

dow bounced off ~17400 and back through the next point at 17420, but it is/was unnerving that 17500 had little more resistance (support!) than a chocolate fireguard
