FTSE + FTSE 250 - consider trading (FTSE)

cynic - 20 Oct 2007 12:12

rather than pick out individual stocks to trade, it can often be worthwhile to trade the indices themselves, especially in times of high volatility.

for those so inclined, i attach below charts for FTSE and FTSE 250, though one might equally be tempted to trade Dow or S&P, which is significantly broader in its coverage, or even NASDAQ

for ease of reading, i have attached 1 year and 3 month charts in each instance

nimble fingers day and staying fully alert will be the order of the day i think
that said, there could be some hefty bear closing over the pond as the day draws to a close

This is the only Santa rally at present ....

Stan - 18 Dec 2015 09:44 - 19161 of 21973

Next week I tell ya.. next week.

cynic - 18 Dec 2015 09:50 - 19162 of 21973

in jerusalem?

Stan - 18 Dec 2015 09:54 - 19163 of 21973

If we don't get a rally upwards next week I will be most surprised.

FTSE seems resilient so far today, blue finish today (from septic peg)
2517

cynic - 18 Dec 2015 10:19 - 19165 of 21973

it's certainly time the market(s) stopped being spiteful

FTSE
possibly buy if 6050 hit

Stan - 18 Dec 2015 14:21 - 19166 of 21973

How do you see the Dow opening Chaps.

cynic - 18 Dec 2015 14:24 - 19167 of 21973

it has been down a further 170 to 17320, but has suddenly perked up be to down ONLY 50 at 17440

i suspect there will be a quick dive from that level as a carry-over from last night, but it would be nice to imagine a sharp recovery during the afternoon

Stan - 18 Dec 2015 14:31 - 19168 of 21973

Thanks, I'm hoping for a significant dive (with the footsie doing like wise) so that I can top up for next week.

cynic - 18 Dec 2015 14:36 - 19169 of 21973

well DOW did drop nearly 100 more at the open, so you had a chance there

jimmy b - 18 Dec 2015 15:22 - 19170 of 21973

Me too Stan ,what FTSE figure are you waiting for ??

jimmy b - 18 Dec 2015 15:34 - 19171 of 21973

Who upset the DOW ?

Stan - 18 Dec 2015 15:38 - 19172 of 21973

-40 james, which has been hit.

jimmy b - 18 Dec 2015 15:49 - 19173 of 21973

I was waiting for 6000 and open a January long but i don't think it's going to get there .

Stan - 18 Dec 2015 15:53 - 19174 of 21973

Yeah could be right but Dow still on the decline so you never know.

cynic - 18 Dec 2015 16:47 - 19175 of 21973

DOW
17,300 should have been a significant support, but it is now beginning to form a resistance

indeed, dow is now down to about 17,260 and all looking very nasty

===============

17,170 is the next stop, but of late, they have all been pretty meaningless

HARRYCAT - 18 Dec 2015 17:30 - 19176 of 21973

.

cynic - 18 Dec 2015 21:35 - 19177 of 21973

jimmy - well you can now ..... dow finished at 17,120 down goodness knows how much (370 it seems), and cash ftse just below 6,000

Claret Dragon - 19 Dec 2015 05:38 - 19178 of 21973

Short squeeze on Tuesday and Wednesday ıt appears to me.
