How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?
Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Thanks Fundy for drawing attention to the match - hadn't realised it was on.
Attempted to green up, but bet wasn't allowed as market was suspended in the 5 seconds I was waiting. But great news, could green up after 2nd goal instead :-)

Liverpool have had to use all 3 subs in the first half with Warnock, Hamann and Morientes all going off injured and now Garcia has picked up a knock - tempted to use some of my profit to lay liverpool at 1.08

I fancy a small bet on Schalke to equalise against Mainz in the Bundesliga.
Am I better backing the draw or Schalke to win?
Any thoughts?

current prices Mainz 2.66, Schalke 3.0, Draw 3.5
I guess if the goal comes quite quickly your better off schalke, if it takes a while your better off backing the draw - i guess the latter is the safer option

Under the strategy for greening up on football, is it better to have a profit on what you believe the likely result will be plus 0 on each of the other two outcomes.
Or a smaller profit on all three possible outcomes?

"Or a smaller profit on all three possible outcomes?"
That's the method I recommend on the basis that you will get lots of wins and it will feel much better than a semi random assortment of bigger wins. In the long run both will average each other out but losing a chunk of money in the last ten minutes is always painful even if you have no money at risk. Therefore I always suggest a smaller profit on all.

I heard the commentators talking about it and noticed the move as well. But didn't do anything with it.
