THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Hmmmm!

Its about time the general public realised that builders do not need more land and that lack of building plots are not the cause of lack of new builds.
There are currently approx 220,000 building plots in their land banks.
The reasons they are not building on these plots is because no one can afford to buy in the present financial climate.
The only reason they want more land, is because they know if they buy at todays prices, these plots will be worth more in a few years time.

Also I am fed up of hearing that, 'We need more houses', well we don't, we need less people.
It is said we need over a million houses over the next 10 years, but what happens after that time period, are they then going to say that there will no more houses built.
No of course not, they will need another million and so on infoad infi nitum.
About 2 miles from where I live they built a hospital on a flood plain, which has now pushed more water from the flood plain into the nearby river causing more flooding in the area.
About 30 years ago new Police Headquarters were built on another local flood plain.
Quess what has happened, after being totally flooded twice, these headquarters have now been abandoned.
On Sunday a main road nearby was closed due to flooding.
There are no rivers or streams near this road, but the flooding (a regular occurance) was caused by water streaming from nearby fields where permision has just been granted for 800 houses to be built.
When these fields are covered in concrete, where will all this water go.
It will run off onto the fields opposite causing danger to other properties already in situ.
The only answer is not more house, but less people.
It is as plain as day, that this island of ours is vastly over crowded.
When will the powers that be admit this fact, or is it a case of building money talks.
I am not bothered what colour or creed that foriegners are, but all immigration has to stop unless it will benifit the country, IE the immigrant can put more in than they take out.
This country is sinking!

re immigration-----I don't think that will happen greekman, 'NHS treatment FREE to all immigrants'

all MPs we have voted for over the 25 years have destroyed the country
and are far from honest it is time to kick them all out and start again .
like greece is starting to do WE NEED A PARTY LIKE GOLDEN DAWN

TANKER - 27 Nov 2012 10:35 - 19181 of 81564

my personal views on the sav ile and the childrens scandal have been hushed to take of the heat . the police said we are going to arrest 12 bignames well the 3 they have arrested where always going to be .
what as happend to the others and the raping of children in the homes in wales
the silence says one thing it is being hushed up .
who was the person who started the rumours about a certain tory .
this person must be found who was it .
was he paid

Fred1new - 27 Nov 2012 10:39 - 19182 of 81564

Perhaps, a few more psychiatrists would would be more appropriate than Golden Dawn.

Especially, around the Bridgnorth area.

greekman - 27 Nov 2012 11:30 - 19183 of 81564

Hi 2517George,

Neither do I, as you say NHS treatment free along with several other free services.

Whatever next - Aston tractors! Mahindra hopes for quick Aston Martin deal

(Reuters) - Aston Martin, purveyors of fast cars to a fictional British spy and to real-life billionaires, could be partly owned by India's Mahindra and Mahindra by the end of the week if the Mumbai tractor moguls have their way.

But much is unclear as the British maker of James Bond's sports cars, its Kuwaiti owner and a rival Italian bidder keep their own counsel. "There are a lot of moving parts here," a person with direct knowledge of the matter told Reuters on Monday, adding the Mahindras hoped to strike a deal this week.

2517GEORGE - 27 Nov 2012 12:04 - 19185 of 81564

Greekman----When you think that so many UK taxpaying citizens are unable to get the treatment/drugs they need due to cost restrictions in the NHS, it sort of stinks, especially when you consider the overseas aid budget is also ring-fenced. It appears that those in power are far happier spending UK taxpayers money on non-paying foreigners, rather than those who pay the taxes.
There is a huge sense of unfairness being felt by a good many British people whose tolerance of their MP's and their decisions is wearing thin.
Successive governments have labelled as racist anyone who questions their actions, yet if they sat back and looked at some of their policies, they would realise that they are actually encouraging/inciting racism.

greekman - 27 Nov 2012 13:17 - 19188 of 81564

Tyketto,

I think its already been mentioned a few pages back, but it is very funny and well worth a look
Pity its also true!

Fred1new - 27 Nov 2012 14:36 - 19189 of 81564

George,

Why was "foreign aid" introduced.

What was the expected pay back for the "benefactors"?

What are the long term gains?

----------------

Perhaps, many small minded little UKIP and BNP members would prefer isolationistic policies, which would for some avoid ongoing responsibilities of previous actions in some of those countries.

(Have a look at actions in Kenya etc..)

-----------------

Good to see Osborne's and Cameron's much lauded "back to work" policies are working and Nadine has come home for some more whipping.

What a bunch.

----------------

2517GEORGE - 27 Nov 2012 14:56 - 19190 of 81564

Fred---The reasons behind the introduction of foreign aid were perfectly legitimate, (emphasis on were). Today far too much of the money ends up in the pockets of the people at/near the top of the political pecking order.
Even in this country directors of charities are creaming off obscene amounts of money, approximately 12 or 13 years ago a director of 'Guide Dogs for the Blind' was on a salary of £69k, that's an awful lot of collection tins even now.

This may apply to a few on here :-)

Ice Age warmth wiped out lemmings, study finds

Lemmings became "regionally extinct" five times due to rapid climate change during the last Ice Age, scientists have found.

Each extinction was followed by a re-colonisation of genetically different lemmings, according to the study.

It investigated how Europe's small mammals fared during the era when large numbers of megafauna became extinct.

Previously, experts believed that small mammals were largely unaffected during the Late Pleistocene.

Fred1new - 27 Nov 2012 16:49 - 19192 of 81564

George.

Whatever institutions you have you will always have varying degrees of abuse, that does not mean the "system" or "policy" is wrong.

It means more likely that "corrupt" behaviour should be recognised and appropriately dealt with.

As far as salaries are concerned, I think Cameron and Osborne and some others are being paid well above their skill levels. Quite happy to see them paid on results.

I can't remember the case you were referring to at the £69K pay packet, but if he was "producing or raising" £6.9 million and working his Cons. off. Perhaps he was considered worth it by the dogs, or the blind.

Remuneration, is always a thorny subject, but if open to public knowledge, and challenge, and then the Tax man then it may have to be based on valuation by the "bodies" who pay.

Paying AID into the private pockets of political leaders of corrupt governments, perhaps could be negated by paying directly to the agency at ground level and properly audited.

One of the advantages of AID payments is that it sometimes acts as protection money for our gallant entrepreneurs to do "business" in some countries.

UMMMMMMMH.

Well if people are interested in foreign aid and corruption have a look at last nights Dispatches programme, post 55 in his link http://www.moneyam.com/InvestorsRoom/posts.php?tid=15824#lastread
