DOW JONES @ LIVECHARTS

Jeffmack - graet idea but to admit my ignorance I dont know how to do it? Can you give me and idiots guide as to how it is done and better still if you or anyone else (hint: Snoball or megabucks) can do it would be great and a must help for everyone else.As they say a picture is worth a thousnd words.

What are you dabbling in-please let me know and what trades.

I closed my long before as flws
Opened at 9648 closed at 9680 =32pts x 25 = 800 gain

Have opened a short at 9657 and closed at 9638 = 19pts @ 15 = 285.

Now am in a dilemma whether it is going to shoot up or down my gut feeling is that it will rocket down.

as you know i'm only now becoming familiar with s/b and the DOW. according to my charts, which takes a short-term view, it's still treding up - but that doesn't help you as you're trading the volitility on a minute-by-minute basis.

personally, i think you've pretty much got the formula right. stick to it - move with it but keep lean, we mustn't get greedy.

btw, been reading the D4F thread (as i was in the throws of opening an account). you're with IG, right? are you happy to pay higher spread to the service? any major negatives with IG? I also opened an account with them recently.

I have no grumbles about Ig except the High Spread but the service and promptness that they give well compensates for it. Mind you since the thing is taxfree -better to give it to Ig rather than to Mr Gordon Brown!!

If you click on my name you can send me your E.Mail address. i can then give you some code to copy into your header, then the charts are always on top.

I trade Dow mostly but also S&P and FTSE. Used to use Spreadbet but now direct access to futures book with InteractiveBrokers (interactivebrokers.co.uk). Spreads are minimal (0.25%) but subject to CGT (If Gordon finds out :-))

Silly question -Bur where do I find my HEADER and HOW DO I POST (or Paste the COde).
I looked in my email box but no email from you.
I looked at the Index Charts Html code link and can see the charts.
What do I need to do -please give me some instructions to follow and i will do it straight away

Firstly, click on the link within Jeroo's post 197. Then right click your mouse anywhere over Jeroo's page of charts to reveal a drop down menu and left click "View Source" to reveal the HTML code which makes up the page. Copy this HTML code to your clipboard.

The header is your opening post on this thread and alongside it you will see a blue link which says "edit". If you left click the edit button, you will be able to paste Jeroo's code from your clipboard into the thread header.

Clicking this should offer to download the file. It's a text file not HTML so I'm not sure why it's displaying as charts.

MoneyAM - I did try accessing your charts but they don't appear to work properly. The S&P ticker is S500 according to your look-up table but I don't get a chart when I enter that ticker.

terod, check out Finspreads before you sign up for D4F.
I use Finspreads and have never had a problem with them.
They are always polite and helpful.
For the first eight weeks they will let you trade pennies per point
until you get the hang of it.

I find D4F the best trading platform. There are lots on here that knock but still use it.

I just closed the last SHORT of the day at 60 gain ( i did a 2/pt) as i was going out.
What do u see the dow doing on monday? ( no not the xstal ball)

i think i'll give IG a go - all but ready to go with them now. i understand the spread can be big but haven't heard anything v.adverse....no harm opening fins too.

Hopefully I will pick up some useful trading tips.

after september 11th 2001 was the last time we had 1000 points up on the ftse,we are just about there now since the low in march,it's any1's guess when we get a retrace but retrace we will.the 10,000 dow will be a major barrier to get past,no matter what any1 says.

I am inclined to agree with u there.Everyone keeps on saying (marketmakers) that by xmas they can see the dow at 10000+.Maybe we will -but I think we have to kiss a lot of frogs before we get there.Frankly the Us economy is in dire straits ( not to mention ours),The Iraq oil questions,Israel Paestine and syria etc adinfinitum.......

I reckon there is going to be some serious profit taking and the bulls are going to be subdued by the matadors and the bears are getting ready for winter.
And we are like the mariners at sea we have to follow any benign wind and keep away fr4om the sharks and dont hit any reefs we dont need to ground our ships must follow the tide and not the herd.
