THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Which is the more important story and isn't Cameron glad of the distractions, even from his gaiety marriage statements.

He will bend over backwards to get a vote!

George Osborne warned: protecting AAA credit rating is lost cause

Cabinet colleagues tell chancellor that downgrade is inevitable and he should tell voters it will not affect borrowing costs

Patrick Wintour, political editor
The Guardian, Thursday 6 December 2012 20.05 GMT

George Osborne and Danny Alexander leave the Treasury before the autumn statement was delivered to parliament.

Cabinet colleagues have warned George Osborne not to try to protect Britain's AAA credit rating because its loss is now inevitable and voters should be told it is unlikely to lead to higher borrowing costs.

Osborne insisted he wanted to defend the UK's prestigious credit rating. He said: "The credit rating's important and the market is important, and the reason why this matters to people is because if you don't have credibility, if you're not able to show the world that you can pay your way, then interest rates go up for the government."

In the wake of the autumn statement, the credit rating agency Fitch warned the UK was at greater risk of losing its status. This was because of breaking its supplementary rule to ensure debt was falling as a proportion of GDP by the end of the parliament. Fitch put the UK on "negative outlook" in March 2012 – meaning the rating was under threat – but said on Wednesday: "Missing the target weakens the credibility of the UK's fiscal framework, which is one of the factors supporting the [AAA] rating."

My father was not a detective at all. He was more to do with the security services. There is Paths News item on that web site of the picture being taken with everyone getting blown around, I think it is under the tag of Gothic. It is a little way through the film. I have lots of pics of the Duke being covered in cream and being shaved. It was the 'crossing the line ceremony'

Kate Middleton 'deeply saddened' by death of hoax call nurse Jacintha Saldanha

Kate Middleton, pictured here emerging from hospital, is sais to be 'deeply sadd …

Article: Royal hospital pays tribute to 'excellent nurse' Jacintha Saldanha

Kate Middleton and Prince William are 'deeply saddened' by the death of Jacintha Saldanha, St James's Palace said today.

The statement read: "The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are "deeply saddened to learn of the death of Jacintha Saldanha.

"Their Royal Highnesses were looked after so wonderfully well at all times by everybody at King Edward VII Hospital, and their thoughts and prayers are with Jacintha Saldanha's family, friends and colleagues at this very sad time."

Kate had emerged from the hospital smiling yesterday saying she was feeling "much better" after three days of treatment for a severe form of morning sickness.

The Duchess was admitted on Monday after developing a condition known as hyperemesis gravidarum, which leaves expectant mothers so ill they cannot keep food or liquids down.

But she had looked well and even smiled briefly as she posed with the Duke on the steps of the King Edward VII hospital for the world's media yesterday.

Jacintha was found at an address near the King Edward VII Hospital in London this morning.

The nurse was working at the hospital when she received a hoax call by two Australian radio DJs who impersonated the Queen and the Prince of Wales to dupe her into giving a condition update on Kate, who was suffering severe morning sickness at the private hospital.

This may explain about it better. This was in Naples during the war, when my father was in plain clothes pretending to be Italian as a spy.

Australian hoax call DJs quit Twitter after nurse's death

Australian radio station 2Day FM presenters Mel Greig (L) and Michael Christian,

The two Australian radio presenters who made the hoax call to the King Edward VII private hospital have both deleted their Twitter accounts in the wake of the death of Jacintha Saldanha.

Mel Greig and Michael Christian, hosts of 2DayFM's 'Hot 30 Countdown' evening show, were the DJs who made the prank call to the hospital two days ago, where they pretended to be the Queen and Prince Charles.

The station gained huge publicity from the stunt, while the pair described the incident as 'the easiest prank call ever made' shortly afterwards.

The prank call infuriated hospital bosses however, who threatened legal action.

Following the hoax, a radio station spokesperson apologised for any 'inconvenience' caused by the call.

A statement made by the station in the immediate aftermath of the hoax said: "2Day FM sincerely apologises for any inconvenience caused by the enquiry to Kate’s hospital.

"The radio segment was done with the best intentions and we wish Kate and her family all the best."

Today both Greig and Christian had deleted their accounts on Twitter.

Mr Christian's latest tweets had continued to boast about the call under the hashtag #royalprank, although due to the time difference these posts were made hours before the news of Ms Saldanha's death was revealed.

Ms Greig had also retweeted messages with the #royalprank hashtag to her 9,000 followers hours before her account was shut down.

Both of the presenters had received angry messages from Twitter users in the wake of Ms Saldanha's death.

Sydney station 2DayFM is expected to make a statement on the incident at some point on Friday evening (GMT).

Kate Prank Call Nurse 'Commits Suicide'

A nurse working at the hospital treating the pregnant Duchess of Cambridge, who was duped by a prank phone call, has died in a suspected suicide.

Jacintha Saldanha, who has worked at the hospital for four years, was found dead at an address near King Edward VII's hospital in London on Friday morning.

The hospital confirmed she had been the victim of a hoax phone call in which two Australian DJs, pretending to be the Queen and Prince of Wales, phoned up about Kate.

Ms Saldanha, a mother of two, was the person who first received the call and put it through to the ward where another nurse updated the pair on the Duchess, who was being treated for severe morning sickness.

Sky News crime correspondent Martin Brunt said: "Nurse Jacintha Saldanha was 46 and lived with her partner in Bristol. She has a son and daughter.

"The hospital had not suspended Ms Saldanha, nor disciplined her."

Of course manufacturing has slowed. Our biggest trading partner is in a recession. Our economy is close to being the strongest in Europe. Our unemployment rate has reduced even faster than the US.

The apprenticship discussion was beginning to get interesting until inevitably hijacked by the resident communists. Why don't you start a political thread where you can discuss that subject to you heart's content instead of cluttering up what is an occasionally informative and fun thread. Even Haystack when removed from his rabid Gaza thread gets close to normal behaviour!

This picture makes me want to puke, It sums up the total arrogance of these public school boys ...

Reckon the government will come to regret this photo in the next 30 months.

Don't forget that the Labour and Liberal parties are full of public schoolboys. Ed Balls, Nick Clegg, Tony Blair, Ruth Kelly, Harriet Harman etc.

Hays,

I seem to remember, in the period 2008-2010, that all the UK's economic was due to the government and that the tories, who could walk on water in some people's opinion, would be the miracle party which would sort out all the problems.

Any suggestion that World economics had anything to do with the UK's problems were guffawed at by the tories and minor opposition parties.

I think it is time for you to wake up and smell the coffee, the tories are in the driving seat of the coalition and should will have to take responsibility for their disastrous management of the last 2+years.

Also, recognise that in political weight and economic weight internationally, we are becoming more isolated and less important.

Apparently between 1997 and 2007 manufacturing production fell by 47%, who was responsible for that.
