THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Had Tanker squelched for ages, can't understand why anyone bothers to read what he posts, or replies to him.
He is like that other poster (he who remains nameless) who just posts for attention and reaction.

On a happy note, its 11 more days to Xmas.

Greek,

Perhaps, some are more tolerant of those with different views to the someone as omniscient as yourself.

Also, in many ways you present your opinions with similar zeal as the Tinker.

Not related, are you?

The official police log of the confrontation between the chief whip and officers was published by the Daily Telegraph and the Sun.

On Sunday, the Met said the arrested officer was not on duty during the incident, and investigations have found no evidence to suggest those on duty on the day were involved in the unauthorised release of information.

The arrest will be formally referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission on Monday, the Met Police said.

What puzzles me is how fraud has become fiddling and the fiddlers still get paid, even when they are out of tune with those who are paying their bills.

Season's greetings to all and hopefully the new year will be more tuneful.

you mean like that undemocratic mafia in brussels/strasbourg or wherever next they wish to find an expensive trough?

i confess that if it is a straight choice of EU warts and all or out, then with some reluctance i guess i'ld vote for the latter - as will the overwhelming majority of even "thinking voters" in UK

skin torys to be wiped out with the libs

Fred1new - 17 Dec 2012 14:58 - 19680 of 81564

Cynic,

Depends upon how/when the question of in or out is asked.

If the UK put more effort into the improving the EU's auditing and reducing the "fraud" and/or "inefficiencies" and "expenses", rather than trying to wreck the "institution" itslelf, then necessary reforms could/would be made.

As it is, I see more and more Europeans wishing to see the back of the UK and getting on with necessary changes without reference to our "needs" .

In spite of Fauxpage's screams and shouts, if this happens then economically the UK will suffer.

Also, the "city" and "financial sector" would suffer, even though some vested interests in the city want to continue to be "self" governing.

Haystack - 17 Dec 2012 16:54 - 19681 of 81564

There is a big, big difference in having support and gaining parliamentary seats as the Liberals have found. There is very little chance of UKIP gaining any seats. Also, typically there may be support for a party mid term and even close to the election. This rarely translates as into real votes as the electorate revert to voting along traditional party lines. The SDP found this to be true and had to merge with the Liberals. The UKIP will turn into another also ran in the fullness of time.
