required field - 14 Jul 2010 13:55

It is now time to switch to a new Money AM football blog as the world cup is now over and we all look to the future.....World cup 2010 is over, Bravo Espana, and Forlan, once again and bring on the new season !.....I never expected the last thread to be such a success...thanks all.... so this new one might go on for years without the need to edit the title...we shall see...

Well don't tell me he's going back to huff and puff Everton again....

hilary - 22 Oct 2010 13:14 - 198 of 6918

I'll be very surprised if he leaves Man U but, if he goes anywhere, I reckon it'll either be to Chelsea or Real Madrid.

ptholden - 22 Oct 2010 13:16 - 199 of 6918

Signed a new 5 year deal with Utd

tabasco - 22 Oct 2010 13:25 - 200 of 6918

I dont think this outcome is a shockthere were very few options for him imo..

required field - 22 Oct 2010 13:25 - 201 of 6918

Makes the bid to come from Barca bigger...at the end of the year !.

Treblewide - 22 Oct 2010 13:28 - 202 of 6918

my gut feel is ferguson has used him as a bit of a pawn to get the galzers to fork out some cash

required field - 22 Oct 2010 13:35 - 203 of 6918

If he does leave...it will be abroad and my feeling is that it will be Barcelona....they all speak english anyway...he would fit in there....

tabasco - 22 Oct 2010 13:49 - 204 of 6918

My guess is that Rooney wanted Chelsea and a move to LondonChelsea did not want another forwardmaybe a swapbut basically City became his only optionand he felt 24 was too young to die!...humble pie?

ptholden - 22 Oct 2010 14:01 - 205 of 6918

RF - Keep up!

Chris Carson - 22 Oct 2010 14:12 - 206 of 6918

STINKS - Face saving exercise, Ronaldo scenario Act 2. Rooney will be history in 12 months.

skinny - 22 Oct 2010 14:15 - 207 of 6918

I agree - at least his film career is fall back option (shrek 4).

required field - 22 Oct 2010 16:57 - 208 of 6918

I also think that Rooney will go.....Barca will have to fork out 60 or 70 million but they can afford it....end of this season or probably the next one....

hilary - 22 Oct 2010 17:34 - 209 of 6918

Barcelona are skint. They can't afford Cesc Fabregas, so how do you reckon they'll be able to afford Wazza?

Coupled with that, I think I'm right in saying that, since the start of this year, foreigners working in Spain now have to pay 43% tax rather than 24% for the first 5 years as has happened previously. Where's the incentive in English players going there any more?

Joe Say - 22 Oct 2010 18:33 - 210 of 6918

maybe the incentive is the 7% saving on uk rates

hilary - 22 Oct 2010 20:00 - 211 of 6918

Well the saving is actually 14%. But compared to the previous saving of 52%, it's definitely not as attractive as it used to be.

In a way, I think it could be good for the Premier League. There's a lot of South American starlets who may have previously started their foray into European football in Spain because of the tax attraction and the language situation. Now there's nothing to say they won't come to England and they could easily blend into most of the top clubs.

Hope they are better than the average because to me a lot of them are not impressive at all.

re - Barcelona are skint. They can't afford Cesc Fabregas

Are you back with the trousers on? it is a waste of time, you are better with the skirt on, though there are a few large hairs coming out of funny places.

Cesc Fabregas is not only catalan but was trained from the Barcelona academy, they were interested on him this summer, but only paying resonable prices not the 40/50M they were asking for.

Just let you enlighten you, Barcelona is the only major CLUB with no paying advertising on the their shirt, but advertising for UNICEF for free and on top donate at least 1.5 million per year to UNICEF since 2006.

About time you stop advertising yourself in Camberwell Green, you know what for.

Gunners performing well....come on them....time to win that coveted Champions league trophy....Still think that Rooney will join Barca in a couple of seasons.....it would be a fabulous experience for him and his family.....the kids will learn spanish at early age...and will speak it for the rest of their lives plus a little bit of catalan.....so Fabregas next season and Rooney the following one for the spanish giants...
Fabregas, Villa, Messi, Rooney...mouthwatering attack non ....?
Hernandez is going to turn into one of the best players in the world....

dealerdear - 26 Oct 2010 11:43 - 215 of 6918

I see Paul the Octopus of World Cup fame is no longer with us.

required field - 26 Oct 2010 11:48 - 216 of 6918

Oh !....the poor thing....died has he ?.....should have sold him in the summer interval....or sold a carbon copy...I mean can you tell one octopud from another ?....as a matter of fact I just have a certain Arfur Daley on the phone with 20 replacements.....
