A couple of years after we were first married was the first time my wife did the big Christmas dinner for my family. Everything was going well to impress her mother-in-law etc. until we got up (late) on Christmas morning, having left the Turkey in the oven with the timer set, to find that the oven had died! What a panic!

Speaking of this Christmas dinner malarkey...NOT - T_I_M you're priceless ;)
I don't know what all the fuss is about.
I've been doing it for years - whoever comes, comes - and we always invite the old dears who are on their own now, for sheer entertainment - all you need to do is crack open the bubbly as soon as you can open your eyes, and the rest just falls into place..

You're more than welcome, opto :)
Actually, Sputtie, our old dears aren't rellies, but they are potty - that's what makes them so delightful.
And it makes the time with the rellies pass more pleasantly ;)
...although 'pleasant' and 'rellies' don't belong in the same phrase..
