We're doomed! Humans may transform into hobbits as global warming takes hold

This morning, we launched a poster campaign to coincide with a crucial vote that's happening in Parliament. Today, Labour will vote against capping benefits at 1% for the next 3 years - a double blow to the taxpayer who has to foot the bill.






Under Labour, our welfare system spiralled out of control with the welfare bill rising by 60%, costing every household in Britain an extra £3000 a year.





In the last 5 years, those on out of work benefits have seen their incomes rise almost twice as fast as people in work - at a rate of 20% compared to an increase in average earnings of only 12%.


For Conservatives, this vote is about fairness. Why should the taxpayer pay more to sustain welfare payments while at the same time earning less?

Labour vote time and again against everything this government is doing to get welfare spending under control. But they don't say how they would pay for all this. By voting against our measures, Labour's Ed Balls would clearly be happy with more borrowing to pay the welfare bill - this would saddle every working household in the UK with almost £5000 of extra national debt.

The country has gone to the dogs because of its welfare set-up... breeds a lazy workforce and has done so for decades... its far too ingrained now to be changed.

The problem is, no-one realises the UK is basically bust. Its only for the fact of rolling over debt that it survives at all...

I live in a country with no benefits. I see what happens when someone loses a job, they will do anything and everything to be able to put food on the table. Is it a good thing? I'm not saying it is, because its basic poverty. the point is, there should be a happy medium. People have been flocking to the UK for years because its widely known the government will take care of you and you won't have to lift a finger to have a decent lifestyle. Its part of the reason i chose to move away, it makes me sick...

daval thank you for common sense the uk is full of lazy sods give them 12 months then put them to work for the benefits and no more most will soon be looking to find a job .

I know a great number of immigrants and the majority of them are employed, or members of families where the expected ratio of those working is the same as that for indigenous families.

Many members were employed doing low grade or manual jobs before becoming "artisans" or "management” level jobs. Later, some of those individuals have moved into professional, self-employed, consultant level areas, or academic areas of the economy.

Probably, they have returned more to society than some "lazy" or "lucky" individuals born in this country.

As far as many those who have come to the UK over the last 10-25 years is concerned, the majority came because of the expectations of getting "work", earning money and being able to help those left behind. Also, they hoped to have a reasonable standard of living. (Getting on their bikes.)

Also, many of those immigrants show greater "potential" and “abilities” than the home grown "lot".

There are some, as in all aspects of society who are villainous (even some on this board) and should be weeded out an dealt with appropriately.

But whole-scale blind folded vilification and yobbish criticism like you seem to enjoy and indulge in, is of little benefit to any other than your own satisfaction and yourself.

I think all, if they are capable of doing so, should return something of "use" to society, for the “benefits” they obtain.

I think that those who are "unemployed" and "dependent" on the “state” could after a period of perhaps three months be expected to attend “work” in doing “social” work (improvement to environment, care etc.) of one form or another, for a period of 6-12 weeks.

(Doing so might improve the environments in which they live.)

The reward for doing so for those periods should be above the “benefit” level. The “work” experience would be on a rotational basis and suitable to for the physical and “intellectual” abilities of the individuals.

Subsequent to doing the period of work, if they hadn’t obtained other employment they could return to the “benefit” system, if they so wished for another three months and repeat the rotation.

If they, were not prepared to attend for the “work” experience then the benefit they receive could be gradually reduce.

As far as fraudulent tax and benefit claims are concerned, if the computerised “identity card” system had been introduced, then much of that would have been reduced.

(I have a feeling the “anxiety” around that was higher in some of the “better heeled” than the unemployed and poorer elements of society.)

Are there problems with the levels of immigration? Probably yes, but the rants of UKIP and right wing “zealots” are not going to resolve them.

Nor will drawing up the drawbridges to Europe solve the problems of the little Englanders.

scrap the benefits for any one who as not worked for at least 10 years
deport unemployed migrants and kick out any immigrant that breaks the law

You have the benefit of taxation every time you wake up.

Whether it is in the form of direct payment to you for direct disposal by you, or when you drive down the road, having a health service which treats others to protect you, a police service which patrols your area, etc.

But, I would have thought you would be more at home in the BNP or Golden Dawn parties.

They both need individuals of your calibre and potential.
