Today is the last day of the cricket season :-((((
Therefore today is the last I will see of my imaginary friend until March, if then :-(((
I will of course seek out any las bits of info that I can, but I suspect he has already told me as much as it is legal to tell, and that he feels morally justifiable. He has been a great source for me while at the same time sticking rigidly to business rules of confidentiality.
All the info I have had from him would have been available to anyone asking the right questions of the right people, and he has told me nothing that could in any way break any rules, but if he has been right all along, I am indebted to him, for saving me a lot of time, if nothing else. I will miss his informed input.
This is a long way of saying that whatever i come up with after today, will not be nearly as reliable, or come from a source so close to the Asda GS project as what has gone before.
Sorry guys.
Alan
PS When the dust has settled, as surely it will, I might even let you know who my imaginary friend is, as he and I have done nothing wrong, but at the moment this board is full of troublemakers, and I have no wish to expose he or I to their infantile rubbish.

cynic - 16 Sep 2006 07:14 - 19897 of 27111

Alan ..... whoever "friend" is there is assuredly nothing to gain and potentialy plenty to lose by revealing his identity ..... whatever my (asinine) posts may say, good luck to any mug who still holds SEO .... imo, you need all you can get, but there you go!

oblomov - 16 Sep 2006 07:59 - 19898 of 27111

Alan,

Do you have a an imaginery telephone? Might I suggest you ask your imaginery friend if he can call you if he learns anything new that may be of interest and is in the public domain? He presumably knows why you have an interest in SEO, surely he wouldn't mInd keeping you up to date.

Any reports of GS in ASDA stores yet, anyone?

hewittalan6 - 16 Sep 2006 08:44 - 19899 of 27111

Oblo,
I checked last week at my local, as I got the groceries in and saw none.
I have an imaginary telephone, but as our mutuality is based on our love of cricket and sharing the same club, the fact that he is leaving to join another club, leaves us with little in common, unfortunately.
I will of course ask him, but fear that he feels no obligation to keep me informed of anything. On the plus side, as GS hits the Asda stores, then his role in the project appears to be at an end anyway, so perhaps I would learn no more than I already know.
Cynic, nothing to lose at all. He has told me nothing at all that was not available to everyone, and much of what I was told has been confirmed by other posters through other methods. The only reason for me ever revealing him would be my own satisfaction at being able to say......"Now THATS what i call research", to certain posters who have doubted my integrity and honesty.
Alan

Alan .... I for one have never doubted either your integrity or the quality of your research, though for different reasons I funadamentally disagree with your conclusions, or at least on this particular stock ..... I suspect you and your "imaginary friend" play cricket somewhere south of London, shall we say within 30 miles of Sevenoaks, but revealing the exact location would be as irrelevant as revealing this chap's identity ..... though it may satisfy your own pride, it assuredly does nothing positive for "him", so is best kept under wraps.

hewittalan6 - 16 Sep 2006 10:01 - 19901 of 27111

You're miles away!!!!!

cynic - 16 Sep 2006 10:05 - 19902 of 27111

but it matters not one iota, any more than it matters who your "friend" is!

automatic,

apology accepted, but please get it right in future or dont post. There is so much rubbish being posted with no regard to research - to say its 6 or 7 weeks since SEO stated the contracts were being finalised when its actually 7 days is really unforgiveable from a genuine poster, thats why it seemed to me you had joined the ranks of the nutters who come here to cause trouble.

Were II or Bling nutters?

hewittalan6 - 16 Sep 2006 22:31 - 19912 of 27111

Good news, Great news and some other news
The good news is we won today.
The great news is that means we got promotion to division 2.
The other news is my imaginary friend has confirmed that Asda is definitely on. The decision is made, it is most definitely happening, and on a good scale. No turning back now.
To be fair I had heard this from other places, but to have it confirmed by this particular source is about as good as an RNS. Timescales are still vague, but there is no way he can see it not happening, and as I say, on a big scale. Whether this refers just to GS or Starpol and GS, I do not know. His exact final words were, "Yes. Your packaging company is a certainty for Asda".
As always, DYOR and don't take my word for it, but I am a very happy bunny tonight.
Alan

Alan

From a very wet and soggy week in Tuscany your post has cheered me up! Not been following this week, just miserable being here on a motorbike in such weather...

Back in 2+ weeks - keep the side up eveyone.

Now, whats happened to CHP in my absence?

Paperbackwriter - 16 Sep 2006 22:49 - 19914 of 27111

Hi Alan,

I hope you are right.
Anyhow, you have made my night!
Everything was looking so glum and it was really depressing.
Thanks for sharing that with us.

A big kiss.
X

Oilywag - 16 Sep 2006 23:05 - 19915 of 27111

Alan

If your imaginary friend is 100% right, and I don't doubt your own personal integrity in reporting the news, then I am really looking forward to the deafening silence from those who were forecasting the imminent demise of SEO.
