FTSE + FTSE 250 - consider trading (FTSE)

cynic - 20 Oct 2007 12:12

rather than pick out individual stocks to trade, it can often be worthwhile to trade the indices themselves, especially in times of high volatility.

for those so inclined, i attach below charts for FTSE and FTSE 250, though one might equally be tempted to trade Dow or S&P, which is significantly broader in its coverage, or even NASDAQ

for ease of reading, i have attached 1 year and 3 month charts in each instance

with republican preliminaries in iowa today with the possibility of that maniac trump leading the pack, and nothing positive to offset, DOW could retrench quite sharply

anyway, have taken a punt and shorted at 16,395

Stan - 01 Feb 2016 09:57 - 19903 of 21973

Gone short on the Fts as well.

Claret Dragon - 01 Feb 2016 21:23 - 19915 of 21973

Missed out today. Should have taken out more points than I did. Got a bit cautious.

cynic - 02 Feb 2016 08:44 - 19916 of 21973

DOW
had a further dabble shorting yesterday evening but was nowhere near brave enough to leave running o'night, so took paltry profits ...... of course, hindsight shows i should have clenched my buttocks and held on :-)

jimmy b - 02 Feb 2016 08:51 - 19917 of 21973

That last sentence ,i hope you don't do that often ..
