Severe depression is a serious illness and very different to the much more common mild to moderate versions.

Crap deramp........no wonder most day traders lose money. lol

Woodie.... sorry to tell you this, but in my judgement (for what it's worth), this is way too over-priced just waiting to fall off the cliff.... if I had any shares still in this, i would at least sell 66-75% of all shares in this... i think this could fall to 1.25-1.5p very quickly

(only exception would be that the share price climbs past the 3p level and stays above it... if it fails to get past it even after several attempts or if it jsut crosses over it but then starts falling, do get out of this one... definitely a sign that you could get these shares cheaper)

Before you judge me, i don't short shares & i do not intend to buy these even at lower levels

morjarias: If I were to judge ULT simply on the chart, I would agree with you and get out with a fat profit. But there is a lot of newsflow, masses of it on this thread, which suggests that there is a lot of potential growth, and we may be at the start of sustained rise. Only time will tell whether on- line cbt becomes flavour of the month; meanwhile I'm staying aboard.

It often baffles me - when suddenly people who say they have no interest in buying or selling a share - think they are the gurus/pandits on the market and come up and comment - one wonders why ????????? either they ARE the experts or have not much to do and like the famous EK get on the band wagon of anything that is making moves up or down. I have shares in ULT and am staying on long term. p/271

Not a chartist myself but can't see this approach working at all well with a stock such as this. This is chiefly news driven and there has been/is to be plenty of that.
Charts may well have their place when little of significance is occurring to effect a companies future outlook but that is hardly the case with ULT.

I have just received my monthly copy of Health Director (a Govnet publication). On page 52 - the last page, there is an article on Beating The Blues, which talks about the preliminary recommendation made by NICE, that all patients presenting with mild/moderate depression in both primary and secondary care should be offered beating the blues.

The article goes on to explain what BTB is, and where it comes from, and explains how ULT are keen to expend on their partnership with the NHS. It has quotes from Director John Smith who (oviously) endorses the NICE recommendations and talks about how cheap it is to implement them, particularly through consortia approaches. He is named as the contact at ULT.

All in all the article in very informative and is positive. It highlights a number of points:
NICE recommends NHS to offer BTB;
Cost effective computer program for depression;
Clinically validates by RCT;
Implemented in over 150 sites;
Positive patient feedback;
Relief Series provides easy internet access for anxiety, depression, insomnia and stress;
Call Ultrasis - the interactive health experts.

Now, for those of you who don't know - I work in Directorate management in a local authority in Scotland and I know many government people subscribe to this magazine. Stress is one of Scotlands leading ailments, particularly amongst local authority/government workers. I know that ULT have been targeting England and Wales, but you can bet people in Scotland will be picking up on this.

choice and be able to access effective help quickly.

Clinical Expert 1 - I am also pleased that Beating the Blues continues to be recommended in 1.1 as an option for the treatment of mild and moderate depression.

Department of Health - We welcome your recommendations on Beating the Blues and Fearfighter.

Clinical Expert 3 - I would recommend the wording be changed slightly to There is insufficient evidence to recommend Cope and Overcoming Depression as cost effective options for the treatment of depression, except as part of ongoing or new clinical trials.etc

Media Innovations - We are quite happy to acknowledge that the evidence
base for Overcoming Depression is not as strong as yet
as for Beating the Blues.

and for balance...NHS Quality Improvement Scotland 2 - It would seem
appropriate to use the Scottish conclusion of Not proven for COPE and Overcoming Depression i.e. to reflect the situation that there is some evidence of
effectiveness, but evidence of efficacy is required through well planned RCT studies.

There are also a lot of comments from the Institute of Psychiatry regarding BTSteps (now called OCFighter). They seem to agree with St Solutions regarding relaxation being an appropriate comparator in RCTs. I strongly suspect that this is the point that they have appealed on (if it is them who has appealed). The DoH also seem to agree...

Department of Health - On OC Fighter I would be grateful if you could clarify and re-examine the view of relaxation as a comparator treatment. OC Fighter is more effective than relaxation but this appears to have been overlooked as evidence of effectiveness. The consultation suggests that it does not view relaxation as an example of usual treatment, even though it is often used in clinical practice.

I think at worst the appeal hearing could result in a slight re-wording of the FAD to make it clearer that COPE and Overcoming Depression should not be dismissed until further RCT evidence is available. However, the recommendation for BtB should be unaffected. All consultees seem to be in agreement that BtB is the most cost-effective and proven method for treatment of moderate/mild depression so I can't see this not being implemented. If further evidence becomes available on the other products then this can be considered when CCBT is reviewed (after 18 months I think - Sept '08). I can't see the current recommendation for BtB being effectively being put on hold just so the other 2 companies can gather further evidence - why wait when the most proven, cost-effective product is ready to roll??
