FTSE + FTSE 250 - consider trading (FTSE)

cynic - 20 Oct 2007 12:12

rather than pick out individual stocks to trade, it can often be worthwhile to trade the indices themselves, especially in times of high volatility.

for those so inclined, i attach below charts for FTSE and FTSE 250, though one might equally be tempted to trade Dow or S&P, which is significantly broader in its coverage, or even NASDAQ

for ease of reading, i have attached 1 year and 3 month charts in each instance

Missed out today. Should have taken out more points than I did. Got a bit cautious.

cynic - 02 Feb 2016 08:44 - 19916 of 21973

DOW
had a further dabble shorting yesterday evening but was nowhere near brave enough to leave running o'night, so took paltry profits ...... of course, hindsight shows i should have clenched my buttocks and held on :-)

That last sentence ,i hope you don't do that often ..

Claret Dragon - 02 Feb 2016 09:47 - 19918 of 21973

Another bad day. Off back down again.

cynic - 02 Feb 2016 10:01 - 19919 of 21973

:-)
or at least as far as my remaining DOW position is concerned

Claret Dragon - 02 Feb 2016 10:18 - 19920 of 21973

In profit for the day, but i always want the dam thing to go up for the feel good factor. Going out for a time with nothing running. Where too come close in UK?

was short DOW but closed before take-off
took about 85 points but clearly would/could have been far more
nevertheless, not to be sneezed at

anything particular upset the markets?

cynic - 02 Feb 2016 20:01 - 19925 of 21973
