THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Hi GF,

Fully agree with your views, but I can't understand why as a floating voter, you would this time vote Labour.
Remember it was Labour that allowed the welfare state and immigration to get totally out of hand in this country.
Although due to public pressure they would not go fully back to their old ways, they would without doubt not tighten the rules re deserving/none deserving recipients as as much as Conservatives would, (they have stated as much).
Have you considered UKIP and looked at their policies.

Davai - 10 Jan 2013 09:28 - 19950 of 81564

Yep gk, i thought the same... No more boom and bust... lets just try bust

chuckles - 10 Jan 2013 10:56 - 19951 of 81564

Greekman, voters seems to have very short memories.
Labour imherited a fully functioning vibrant economy and during their prolonged period in power managed to smash that economy with their spend spend and let's spend a whole lot more policy. Doubling the national debt from something like 450 billion to nearly 1 trillion pounds. Immigration out of control, benefit system out of control and services such as the NHS, education creaking to the point of collapse. Labour took over ten years to create chaos, but the current government is lambasted for failing to put everything right in just two years

Obviously we should all vote Labour next time around and give them another chance to finally destroy the country. Vote Labour yer mugs!!

Davai - 10 Jan 2013 11:52 - 19953 of 81564

TANKER - 10 Jan 2013 12:04 - 19954 of 81564

back to benefits they have given the lazy sods a 1% increase for the next 3 years
the poor people working in mist jobs will not get a rise at all they should of taken off 1% for the next 3 years

goldfinger - 10 Jan 2013 13:21 - 19955 of 81564

Hi Greekman .........voting labour as I dont want to be governed by a set of Toffs for another 5 years. Toffs I might add who havent a clue.

Just one practising economist in the cabinet........ and hes a LIB DEM. (vince cable)

Previous Tory governments havent had all this priveledged brigade. I detest the idea of this and hand downs.

These people are the spawn of those who robbed and thieved the common wealth and its come back to bite us in a big way.

Give me hardworking Torys like weve had in the past from middle class backgrounds who know what its like out their........ and Ill vote for them again...... BUT not this present load of bafoons.

goldfinger - 10 Jan 2013 13:23 - 19956 of 81564

By the way just 3% of the welfare budget goes on those who are unemployed.

Strange how its all gone quiet about knicking the Bankers and raiding off shore bank accounts!!.

chuckles - 10 Jan 2013 14:26 - 19957 of 81564

How do you quantify being a toff?

TANKER - 10 Jan 2013 14:28 - 19958 of 81564

being smug with the family behind them but done fcuk all in the real world
got were they are via daddy and mummy

cynic - 10 Jan 2013 14:34 - 19959 of 81564

ah, the inverted snob writes then!
you'll be telling us next about walking 5 miles to school and back with shoes made from old car tyres, but you felt lucky as some couldn't even afford those .... but now through your own wheeling and dealing you can afford the car to go with them
does that make you a more admirable person?
I think not

Fred1new - 10 Jan 2013 14:43 - 19960 of 81564

GF,

Are you nicking my identity?

8-)

At the moment, one of the problems with the present tory elite which is “seemingly” in control of the Conservative party, is its disconnect with the “expectancies” of the large “middle class” group and the main body of society.

(Often, their own wealth having been produced from the middle class and old fashioned “working” class.)

Also, it is apparent that they are more involved with protecting their own “lot” or
“group” rather than improvement and raising standards of society as a whole.

Also, it is strange that the lower “middle class” is “permitted” a lower level of disposable income after tax is expected to be inspired to work harder, while the more “affluent” (by luck, birth, or due to hard work) is inhibited, or would be discouraged
from working harder if their disposable income is slightly reduced.

If one relates back to the development of “wealth fare”, “social services” and “education” the driving force was to increase the “health”, “wellbeing” and evolution of society as a whole.

Respect of that concept, has led to improvement of the UK as a whole over the last 100 years or so. But, probably, the greatest improvements have been in during the last 30-40 years. This government is in process of regressing and is celebrated by some who have misconceptions based of “Survival of the Species” theories.

Next time one visits a new school, a hospital or receives “medical” care, recall the standards of those institutions 20-30 years ago.

Back to the market. It seems odd to-day.

goldfinger - 10 Jan 2013 14:54 - 19961 of 81564

SPOT ON FRED.

havent filled in a CV or application form in their life.

been given a job through the old boys net work........ ie PLACED.

Got to admire Gates and Buffet both giving their kids F all. Say that they should stand up on their own 2 feet etc.

Same with me. I have a son, who will get a nomimal amount to buy books and forge his own way through life.

goldfinger - 10 Jan 2013 15:00 - 19962 of 81564

No not nicking anything Fred just so mad that middle class people are falling for boy georges trap ie, divide and rule.

Mind if the first opinion poll since this tactic is anything to go by Labour have increased their following by 2 points which would be........ a 20% increase , ie now poll of polls 12% in front of posh boys lot.

Can see through them these days.

goldfinger - 10 Jan 2013 15:05 - 19963 of 81564

Correction...... sorry Fred and tanker. Tankers post I was refering to. Post 19965.

Fred1new - 10 Jan 2013 15:29 - 19964 of 81564

GF.

My father, in general provided support while I was in "education", but otherwise expected me to do the same.

I have in general done the same for my daughters, but made sure there was always support to give when I thought they would benefit from their "adventures", otherwise they financed themselves.

My wife, I think, but I have never been told, has given more directly, but has always been very involved with their development and that of our grandchildren.

TANKER - 10 Jan 2013 15:32 - 19965 of 81564

Haystack - 10 Jan 2013 15:53 - 19967 of 81564

Being a practising economist is not that much of a recommendation. Cable is a bit of a tax and spend type similar to Labour. Ken Clarke is probably the best Chancellor in recent memory. He had a law degree and was a barrister. At least Osborne was the shadow Chancellor. By the way Cable has praised Osborne several times over the last 2 years and has said he is on the right track.

Fred1new - 10 Jan 2013 19:26 - 19968 of 81564

Praising Osborne, is I suppose morally better than stabbing him in the back.

However, sometimes, I think there is not enough immorality to go around.
