In the US tonight, the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed up 104.62 points at 11,079.46, a bit below its intraday high of 11,131.73. The Nasdaq Composite closed up 34.14 points at 2,141.20, while the S&P500 gained 12.08 points to close at 1,252.20.

In Asia today, the Hang Seng ended the morning up 201.70 points at 15,861.06, while the Nikkei was recently up 377.7 points at 15,021.96.

New York's main oil contract, light sweet crude for delivery in August, was up four cents at $70.37 per barrel from $70.33 in US trade.
