In the US tonight, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 56.19 points to 11,045.28, just off its high for the session of 11,048.72. The Nasdaq Composite rose 12.20 points to 2,133.67, while the S&P500 gained 6.06 points to 1,250.56.
In Asia today, the Hang Seng closed the morning up 36.47 points at 15,841.28, while the Nikkei was recently down 26.05 points at 15,126.35.
New York's main oil contract, light sweet crude for delivery in August, was up 24 cents at $72.04 per barrel from $71.80 in late trading in the US.
