In the US tonight, according to preliminary calculations, the Dow fell 63.08 to 11,406.20. The Nasdaq Composite dropped 37.86 to 2,167.84 and the S&P 500 was down 12.99 at 1,300.26.

In Asia today, Hang Seng ended the morning down 124.99 points at 17,133.52, while the Nikkei was recently down 257.92 points at 16,026.17.

New York's main oil contract, light sweet crude for October delivery, was down 3 cents at $67.47 a barrel from $67.50 in late US trades overnight.
