I think we need a discussion thread for non Premiership football clubs, ie the Coca Cola league, The Championship, League one, League two, and of course, the Conference clubs.

BIG news tonight for Bournemouth fans such as myself!
Oh YES!
Anderton Agrees Terms
Darren Anderton has agreed terms with Bournemouth on a contract to the end of the season.
It is hopeful that the former Spurs and England midfielder will be presented to the crowd before tomorrow's match against Crewe Alexandra.
Chairman Abdul Jaffer said, "We are delighted to have signed a player of Darren's calibre. It shows how far this club has come that we have been able to sign such a player and it underlines the Board's ambition for the club."

Beware of:
1. Players coming home for one last pay day.
2. Players with a history of Injuries.
3. Some older players.
4. Former International players.
Anderton Is all of these, It's a generalisation I agree but not to confident he will be any good to you.
Hope I'm wrong because I think you were the 1st to be run as a cooperative If I'm not mistaken.

Stan,
I totally agree, and the club state he is being signed on a 'pay and play' deal.
Darren has lived in Bournemouth (Poole) for years, as his partner has lived here all her life, so we hope he is simply signing for his local club as it's a fact his partner doesn't want to leave the area.
Time will tell, but hopefully this is just the boost a small club like ours needs.
You are correct, we have some sort of co-operative, but this has largely been diluted away now, as the fans' golden share agreement has been terminated, and the stadium sold (sale and leaseback) to pay off some of the debts.
Our manager resigned to Join Doncaster yesterday, although he is in charge for today, so the club is going through a transitional stage.

We stayed at Christchurch a couple of times (friends there) and I went to Dean Court for a couple of games, remember being in your supporters bar when the fella who was behind the move to a cooperative gave a speech.
Good luck anyway.

Stan,
Ok, sadly that bar is no longer there, although there are promises of some sort of matchday club.
Here's "our" Darren signing on the pitch today, or is he self-certyfying his first sicknote?
Time will tell, and thanks for the good wishes, we'll probably need them!

It was well worth the 200 mile round trip and the admission money to see Darren's goal yesterday!
What a scorcher, and a quality display all round, Darren oozed class, and sprayed the ball around the pitch with much aplomb IMO.
A great start to his AFCB career.

Bournemouth 1-1 Scunthorpe
Darren Anderton's spectacular debut strike earned Bournemouth a draw after falling behind to Scunthorpe.
The ex-England winger hit a delightful free-kick from 35 yards out which smacked the underside of the bar and bounced into the back of the net.
The goal cancelled out Neil MacKenzie's early opener which saw the midfielder bury a left-foot shot from 15 yards.
And Scunthorpe could have secured victory had striker Billy Sharp not missed two gilt-edged chances.

I have only noticed Bournemouth since that miraculous hat-trick by Hayter a couple of years ago. I can't see why he hasn't moved up a league or two as he is skipper now I think.
