In the US tonight, trading was fairly muted. As I last checked, the Dow rose 2.32 points to 11,852.93, while the S&P 500 gained 1.14 points to 1,351.36, and the Nasdaq Composite lifted 10.61 points to 2,301.56.
In Asia today, the Hang Seng ended the morning down 15.52 points at 17,892.15, while the Nikkei was recently down 28.45 points 16,420.88.
The New York Mercantile Exchange's main oil contract, light sweet crude for November delivery, was down 36 cents to $59.67 a barrel from $60.03 in late trading in the US overnight, when the price had risen on reports that OPEC was ready to cut output.
