In the US tonight, the Dow Jones Industrial Average recently fell 58 points to 12,022. The Nasdaq Composite Index was off 22 points at 2,344 while the S&P 500 dropped 8 points to 1,369.

In Asia today, the Nikkei closed 25.24 points lower at 16,350.02, while the Hang Seng ended the morning up 50.54 points at 18,504.19.

New York's main oil contract, light sweet crude for December delivery was down 7 cents to $58.64 a barrel from its US close of $58.71 overnight.
