In the US tonight, the Dow Jones industrial average was last off 27.88 at 12,198.85. The S&P500 was up 0.17 at 1,399.65, and the Nasdaq Composite was up 1.65 at 2,433.88.

Good morning traders!

In Asia today, the Nikkei closed up 47.45 points at 16,321.78, while the Hang Seng ended the morning session down 35.85 points at 18,924.63.

New York Mercantile Exchange's main oil contract, light sweet crude for January delivery, was down 29 cents at $62.84 a barrel from $63.13 in late US trade overnight.
