few comments (PYN)

hangon - 12 Jun 2008 20:45

This share has been downward since about 2006(1.30 peak) to 29p now.

Not sure about this one, still it was a lot more expensive a year ago...(abt 80p)...yet I worry this trend will continue, as there is little development "newsflow"

Just one EPIC-letter away, Phytopharm[PYM] was similarly a disaster in "plant-based products"

Is hisory telling us something.....anyone go to their AGM's

If you think the trend down is going to continue, why don't you, well, er, um, short the pants off them?

thanks, but so-far I haven't shorted.

For this stock in particular I guess the issue is "what is the right price" - unfortunately no-one can know and general Market woes have dropped most stocks.
With "normal" Stocks they start from a low level and rise as the business builds. The market can judge the business - turnover, profits etc - these should give rise to an increase in sp in good years and a fall-back during bad. Hence the sp is "tied" to profits.
With PYN I don't think it's been going long enough - the float price was "probably" overpriced, but hangers-on had to be paid, so the sp was talked-up. Let's say it was never worth 1.30 - something like a third, or a quarter looks far better.....reduces the risk.......although it can fall further. . . . . . Currently 30p, that's less than a quarter of the recent Float price.
Now, do I feel lucky?

EDIT-(27Oct08) - sp fell to 12p but I notice that they doubled the number of shares mid-year so this does no favours for early investors. Fortunately I have resisted the desire to get into yet another small-co "story".
The issue with this MRSA-treatment is that it is competing with "established" NHS materials and Dettol (huh!), so it's an uphill battle, without massive Advertising/Marketing spend to push sales.(assuming it passes Official inspection - and that's by no means certain!)....the real profit is in USA and that's a whole new ball-game and HUGE cost.
EDIT-(12Jn09)-sp falls 17% today, mid-4.75pence....oh deary.

Removing themselves from AIM as a result of 22% of their shareholders being willing to provide further funds, etc. etc - that's about a fifth (and presumably after recent Dilution!)....so early shareholders have been dealt a severe blow - disgraceful.

Shows that AIM-Rules (for all the "Light touch" trumpeting) are completely useless in connection with any investment model, and makes me very wary of investing in similarly-listed Companies, whatever the Management-Blurb says about Prospects.

I think firms that delist should be investigated, to make sure their Operation is above board - and- that their going, ditto.

All IMHO.
