Advice for Stockwatch and/or level 2 java problems

IanT(MoneyAM) - 19 Feb 2010 14:40

Due to a recent update of Stockwatch (now new Notes fields have been added), there have been some problems experienced by some users when viewing the applets. There have been 2 main causes for this:

1) CAUSE: The version of Java installed on their machines is very very old. Until now we've continued to support this, but now we only support back to a very old version (one less very)
SOLUTION: Test your java at http://www.java.com/en/download/help/testvm.xml and you'll probably find you should update it. Current version is 6 Update 18 http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp

2) CAUSE: The previous applet is cached on your machine and needs updating.
SOLUTION: Clear cache by doing the following
Log out of MoneyAM and close all your internet browsers.
Click START -> Control Panel -> Java (switch to classic view if you can't see it. If you are in classic view and still can't see it, you are using the very very old version of Java and need to upgrade it) -> Settings... (under Temporary Internet Files) -> Delete Files... -> OK

I still find that characters are very poorly rendered even after doing the recommended updates etc.
