The pound was under renewed pressure yesterday as a member of the Bank of Englands Monetary Policy Committee warned that the economy could again contract and a leading ratings agency said that Britain had come closer to losing its AAA rating.
Pound falls after Moody's warning on rating
The US rating agency said the US, the UK, Germany, France, and Spain are walking a tightrope as they try to bring public finances under control without nipping recovery in the bud. It warned of "substantial execution risk" in withdrawal of stimulus.

Good morning traders!
In the US last night, the Dow rose 17 points at 10,642, the Nasdaq lost 5 points
at 2,362 and the S&P500 gained a point at 1,151.
In Asia today, the Nikkei was down 25.72 points at 10,726.26, while the Hang Seng
ended the morning off 92.41 points at 20,986.69.
Crude oil traded at $79.72 a barrel on Nymex.
Gold settled at $1,113 an ounce.
