This firm has been tipped so often of late, that it deserves a thread.

• Raised US$375 million via a highly oversubscribed primary issue
• One of the largest ever UK E&P IPOs
• 17 different projects across nine jurisdictions.
• Drilled nine deepwater exploration wells as Operator
• Five significant discoveries (Tanzania and Equatorial Guinea)
• Planning to drill 9 to 13 wells over the next 12 months

OUTLOOK
The Group is now facing the most active period in its history, with a nine to thirteen well programme over the next twelve months. The drilling programme will span a mix of proven and frontier plays, targeting ca. 2.4Bboe of net unrisked resources. The campaign commences imminently in December 2011 with the drilling of the first of five wells in Tanzania. Ophir has a presence in four of the five key emerging sub-Sahara plays and the Group is well funded for its future plans.

Ophir rises on read-through from Cove deal
StockMarketWire.com
African oil explorer Ophir Energy (LON:OPHR) gained more than 7% after Cove Energy (LON:COV) was the subject of a £992 million offer from Royal Dutch Shell (LON:RDSB).

Ophir operates in East Africa - close to Cove's main assets offshore Mozambique - and the market appears to be looking at other likely M&A candidates.
