In the US last night, the Dow finished up 224 at 17,749 the Nasdaq rose 76 points to 5,071 and the S&P 500 gained 30 points to 2,073.

In Asia today, the Nikkei was recently up 303.65 points at 19,353.56 and the Hang Seng up 192.67 points at 21,893.88.

WTI crude oil traded at $35.52 a barrel and Brent at $37.19.

Gold settled at $1,078.00 an ounce.
