Has anyone tried the fast buy/sell route of buying a couple of weeks before the higher yielding shares go ex divi and then hanging on for a few weeks for the price to re establish itself and selling again?
It sounds like a good idea with the right volumes to cover dealing etc but ive not really researched it.

Yes - I do it all the time (although I sometime make enough money before they go ex divi and sell early!)

Oh, I almost forgot - it only works with shares that have are nearer to their 12 month low rather than the 12 month high, so you have do do a lot of homework!

yes - I find that shares nearer the high don't play ball as easily! (Not that they always do what you think!)

one for you to look at is uu. (united utilities)
ex div in dec (although only interim dividend is still a good yield)
as always DYOR.

Another to consider is ULVR ex div 05/11 pay dec. (interim - results as expected out today)

whats dividend payment going to be for unvr (cant seem to find it)

I have read about this strategie but never tried it as I thought the margins were too low compared with the risk. Without wanting to pry too much what is the minimum investment necessary to show a worthwhile profit investing this way? Are we talking hundreds, thousands or tens of thousands?
