SHARE TIPS FROM THE SUNDAY NEWSPAPERS
Mail on Sunday The paper believes sales of electronic gadgets this Christmas will benefit recently floated chip maker Wolfson Microelectronics (278p). Revenues are set to double this year from 19.4m. Profits are up at 2.4m for the first half of 2003, against 2m for the whole of 2002. The paper says the firm must deliver on expectations to justify its high valuation, but confident management and strong growth make the shares a buy.
Sunday Telegraph Defence manufacturer Chemring (385p) stands to benefit from the ongoing war on terrorism. The firm makes anti-missile flares which were used in the war in Iraq. Although a fire shut down its main US factory 18 months ago, production is now back at full capacity. As the US government considers laws to force commercial airliners to be fitted with missile protection systems, the paper says shares look undervalued.
Sunday Express Strong trading in Germany and persistent consolidation rumours make telecoms firm mmO2 (78p) a buy, says the Express. The paper tips industrial property group Workspace (1425p) on the back of above-forecast first half results. Pre-tax profits more than doubled to 3.4m from the same period in 2002. A healthy cash cushion means that electrical chain Dixons (132p) looks undervalued
