RETAIL STOCKS 2004 (RET)

wansford - 04 Jan 2004 12:59

I have noticed that their is a lot of rumour and problems surrounding the hares such as House of Fraser, large holding viz Baguar and co,W H Smith, poor results, and Matalan, and Woolworths, all with problems and possibly priced low enough for takeover predators to make a killing. This culd be by splitting or getting product mix etc right....
Any thoughts for the next takeover target?

Regards Wansford

DUPLEX - 04 Jan 2004 14:32 - 2 of 2

Good point. Talk on other bulletin boards of WH SMith dropping are over egged. The Net asset value is good enough support ! And way before that price there would be a bid. I mean the results were bad, but they are still making a profit - even if it was a little dissappointing, have a healthy cashflow and alsohave a brand name deeply embodied in the UK conscious.

Next takeover target - I'll do some digging.
