Victory Corporation - January's Snooze Award 2004 ? (VRY)

RagstoRiches - 09 Feb 2004 20:58

Hey Guys, does anyone know anything about Victory. Over the last month it's been so static it must be arthritic.... This is a company with the might of the Branson empire behind it and which hit the 400p+ heights in the summer of last year only to drop back to a snooze level of 175ish. Where it continues to remain. Anyone have any CPR knowledge or news to give it the kiss of life ?

gallick - 20 Feb 2004 08:29 - 2 of 18

I think it just woke up!

citygent - 20 Feb 2004 16:55 - 3 of 18

Also hold this. Obviously delighted the buggers finally moving. But can you see any reasons for the sudden surge ?

gallick - 04 Aug 2004 08:46 - 4 of 18

Since the 100% rise a while back, this had been flatlining for a month or two. Just managed to top up before the recent rise (15% in 2 days). I have heard no news but the upside looks tremendous from here. This is still not yet on a lot of radar screens, but take a look at where the share price was over 5 years ago!!

Decided to buy back into VRY today at 175p having got out at 370p level - I think there is some good long term value to be had from buying at these levels.

Any views from those with inside knowledge of the company - anyone on this BB hold VRY?

My email address is davethehorse@tiscali.co.uk if you would like to email me personally - any broker notes would be appreciated.

Looks like this "snoozer" may be about to awaken from its winter slumber - sales in recent months have improved apparently - could be another BOS style recovery here.

Where did you hear about a sales pick up - it was not so long ago that the profit warning came out of the clear blue sky. I would want to see a reasonable upturn in the SP before I go back into this, paticularly as the UK consumer is under so much pressure. Also I am not sure what is going on with the majority shareholding which Virgin transferred from one company to another. Do you know what that is all about?

I'll grant you that it is cheap.

The info I have is from local sales consultants - including my missus!

The new jewellery has been well received and the slowdown in Oct/Nov has not continued into Dec/Jan/Feb - spring is also traditionally when sales pick up strongly - better mood amongst the ladies at the parties presumably with the light nights and sunshine.

Last year the company was trading at a 1.5m loss at interims but posted pre-tax profits of over 2m in June 04.

VRY is ticking up and there is very little stock about.

As it seems to have hit rock bottom and there seems to be the start of an uptrend, I have decided to dip my toe in the water.

Tell your missus to keep up the good work, or get out the whip (which ever works best).

Gallick

I got back in last week at 175p having sold out at 370p in June - fingers crossed but it seems cheap at these levels.

You obviously knew what was going on behind the scenes. I got hammered down to 220p before bailing out. Should have seen it coming though cos the SP was trending slowly down. Waiting for news on this is like waiting for tumbleweed to blow through town!

The MM's must be short of stock. Bid/offer is now 180:200

Moving up nicely by 6.6% today.

As I recall more than 80% of the stock is tied up within the subsiduary.

We just need some positive news to blast this up.

Bought another 2 x 2.5k of VRY at 167p today - my missus reckons all is well with sales and might even beat expectations of 800k profit - risk/reward looks in the favour of buyers.

My local rep was round to deliver an order from my missus yesterday and said pretty much what ngomi was saying - her sales had really picked up recently and said there seemed to be a "feelgood factor" to sales at the moment.

She said jewelery had really increased interest at her parties and were well received by her buyers.

All in all she gave me confidence to hold/buy at these levels.

The VRY chart seems to have found strong support at this level and the 14 and 21 day RSI is very oversold - all indicators +ve IMO.

Results out on Wednesday, (22nd)

Can we expect good news.

I certainly hope so :-)

Good results, lack of interest.

Need some news to get this one going.
