Oh dear Basil Why the drop in price?? (ERT)

wfagg - 04 Mar 2004 10:16

ERT have been surging forward on the reincarnation of Basil Brush, good performance of Barbie, more promised from fireman sam and little red tractor. Kids stuff you might say (lol)It was only a couple of weeks ago that they pulled back ffrom a bid for Chorion who own Basil's mate Noddy. No bad news , favourable figures expectd for year end sales as there must be a lot that is "Christmas related" in their products.... So why a 21% reduction in share price? in 2 weeks?? Any one know?

wfagg - 04 Mar 2004 16:47 - 2 of 27

Further reduction in the price today seems strange , especially for ERT as they have been very good at communicating news and devlopments to the city and shareholders.Anyone know anything?

Doshmaker - 08 Mar 2004 17:40 - 3 of 27

Promising news announced today. I expect a good run now this week initially to at least the 13p level.

Entertainment Rights Secures

Pan-European Deal for Duel Masters

Entertainment Rights plc ("Entertainment Rights") is pleased to announce that it
has secured a significant pan-European broadcast distribution contract with
Turner Broadcasting System Europe, a Time Warner Company, for its Duel Masters
animated series, for which it owns the international distribution rights.

The contract will see the Duel Masters series broadcast across Europe on the
Continent's main cartoon channels: Cartoon Network, Toonami and Boomerang
reaching at least 30 million homes.

Duel Masters - aimed atthe 7 - 11 boys market - started life as a Manga comic,
where it has gained a large following in Japan. The television series is a
combination of 2D animation with stunning visual computer generated imaging
effects by Shogakukan's highly regarded production arm, Shopro, which also
produced the hit shows Pokemon and Hamtaro.

Entertainment Rights believes that Duel Masters has significant global appeal
and that this sale will enhance its worldwide marketing potential. The Company
also believesthat securing this valuable contract is testament to Entertainment
Rights' leading position as a global media group and is a valuable addition to
its strong brand portfolio, which continues to demonstrate significant benefits
from being actively exploited.

Jane Smith, Group Commercial Director, said: "This is an important broadcast
platform deal for Entertainment Rights and is testament to the global appeal of
Duel Masters, this new television show is already causing a stir among
international broadcasters. We believe it has the potential to be the most
talked about kids' TV show of 2004.

"Cartoon Network, Toonami and Boomerang make up the number one group of
dedicated kids animation channels in Europe and this sale is a major coup in
securing the best possible broadcast platform for launching this phenomenal new
show to its target demographic. The new Duel Masters series has the potential to
be the hottest new property out of Japan since Pokemon."

Big Al - 11 Nov 2004 17:48 - 4 of 27

Took a long position in these last week.

Quite speculative, but chart looks quite nice now and has today broken up. I'm not much of a fundie, but growth forecasts are astonishing and recent newsflow simply seems to add to the story.

It is a pure punt and should be treated as such. My first target is hopefully to 18-20p area and then we'll see.

I'm a trader more than an investor so if anyone wishes to add, detract, praise or slate my decision feel free.

Al
;-)

Oh, and for God's sake DYOR!!

chumila - 10 Feb 2005 13:44 - 5 of 27

Should in fact be alomg the mark of 100p. I am definitely not exagerating. Compared to similar companies in this market 100p is cheap! look at Chorion. Another good news just see this one grow.

in_front - 13 Feb 2005 14:04 - 6 of 27

ERT is definitely going places. I'm in for a wedge first thing Monday. Been on my watch list too long. Strange to see the buys so heavily outweighing sells the last couple of days but no movement!?!

pjm - 14 Feb 2005 10:31 - 7 of 27

TIPPED BY SCSW THIS WEEKEND,LOTS OF BUYS TODAY,PRICE HEADING NORTH

in_front - 14 Feb 2005 10:49 - 8 of 27

Phenomenal buying for last little while, this has got to start motoring. Bought in twice today at 22.75p and 21.72p. That tip should add fuel to the fire.

tallsiii - 14 Feb 2005 11:00 - 9 of 27

What is SCSW?

in_front - 14 Feb 2005 11:10 - 10 of 27

small company share watch, very reputable tip sheet

chumila - 14 Feb 2005 14:34 - 11 of 27

apparently ERT has not been higher that 20p since 2001(this weeks Shares magazine)... not geting the credit it deserves I suppose. This year it has promised to have a very successful 2005. Now that it has crossed the hurdle(20p mark)I am definitely patient with this one. I also think it will do very well this year. Lets see what happens....this week perhaps.

g64946 - 04 Mar 2005 17:05 - 12 of 27

Results due out 14th March - interesting to see if earlier IC & Share Mag recoomendations are backed up...

Big Al - 04 Mar 2005 19:39 - 13 of 27

A whole year since this thread began. Happy Birthday! ;-)

Looking for re-entry.

ethel - 10 Mar 2005 09:59 - 14 of 27

Tipped by Shares Mag.Recent news sounds very positive for Monday's results.Has to reach 30p IMO.Is'nt this also a possible takeover target with such a good stable of characters aimed at young children.Look at the success of Bright Things...aimed at very young children.A captive market (the mothers,I mean!)...
The sp has'nt done much for a year, time for a breakout in an upwards direction,I hope.
Ethel

g64946 - 31 Mar 2005 15:05 - 15 of 27

This has held up well whilst others have dropped the last few days. Today the buys exceed the sells by 4 to 1 and yet it has slipped back 3 % or so.
What am I missing?

g64946 - 04 Apr 2005 09:51 - 16 of 27

This has stormed up today following the 2nd bidder coming in for HIT Entertainment - possible bid speculation must be impacting this heavily too

g64946 - 04 Apr 2005 10:06 - 17 of 27

& the buys keep coming in - up about 12%

ethel - 04 Apr 2005 12:46 - 18 of 27

If you compare the sp of Hit,Chorion and Entertainment Rights there seems to be a discrepancy.Surely,ERT should have an sp of at least 40p,more like 60p or am I missing something?
Whatever, today's rise is a pleasant surprise that might only be a one day wonder seeing the panic mode of the market.Should I sell and make a modest profit or wait to see IF there is a takeover brewing.Chorion has dropped today,so traders don't consider it a target.Must say that a combined Hit-Entertainment Rights would have a wonderful stable of characters.

driver - 04 Apr 2005 12:58 - 19 of 27

ethel
Don't sell you are right and the Sunday Mail agrees with you the sp should and will be 40p to 60p or may be a 100p were it use to be, that's why I bought in today.

ethel - 05 Apr 2005 21:51 - 20 of 27

This seems to be one of those companies that does'nt elicit much enthusiasm from the followers of this BB.Why not.It is undervalued and does'nt harm the environment!!
The sp has been going up nicely since Monday, nothing too dramatic, mainly small investors...target 50p?A quick profit to be made for the fearless!
The bid for Hit Entertainment can only help to keep the interest in this type of share bubbling along for the short term.

driver - 05 Apr 2005 22:20 - 21 of 27

ethel
I'm with you on this and I only got in on Monday like you said the bid for Hit Entertainment makes this share look very cheap.
