In the UK After trading in negative territory for most of the day, the FTSE 100 managed to close higher, with strong gains by the banking sector helping to counter a weak morning by Wall Street as terror fears unsettled US investors.
By the close, the FTSE 100 index was up 2.6 points at 4,415.7, while the broader indices remained weaker.
Volume was light, with 2.18 bln shares changing hands in 183,946 deals.
In the US the early jitters about the latest terror warnings were soon dispelled and the Markets climbed for most of the day. The DOW recorded a 5-day winning run closing up 39.45 at 10179.16 - the S&P closed up 4.9 at 1106.62 the NASDAQ closing up 4.73 at 1892.09
Strange how this latest terror warning came out just after Kerry had had a lot of exposure in the news.

Morning all,
Swing traders got their short signal yesterday, on the UKX and the NDX,
so if they are purists they should now have open, or are opening, short
positions.
I wonder if it will be a false signal again near the range bottom?
Me? I'll wait for confirmation and miss the first part of the profit
if it's real.
Back to flooring and scalping.
Got to pull up 3 rows of laid flooring to get to one of the boards
that has cracked its groove and started squeaking. Bu**er!!
Catch you later.
Melnibone.

Weel done Melnibone - keep at it. I had thought of buying into Floors2Go - glad I didn't if floor laying is this much hassle :-)
