A sitting duck! (DUC)

JRM - 11 Nov 2004 15:45

Imagine an established company. Only worth 13 million with over 8million in cash. A positive trading statement in a growing market. Worth over a billion pounds -recently and due for a bounce -It's Durlacher and ready to go?

So why have the shares fallen, is it just bitterness from yesteryear?

Please comment?

If you don't buy somebody 'll grab this gem!

JRM - 11 Nov 2004 15:49 - 2 of 26

Why is the spread between buy and sell so wide 7p when the actual spread is 4p?

JRM - 12 Nov 2004 12:04 - 3 of 26

Still no excitement but why?

QXL is going mad and the links with Durlacher are so strong.

Also the finance sector is going mad look at similar little companies like WHI

Please comment

DUC - thoes were the days thinking back to Nov 1999, bought @ around 850 made 9k in 3 days :o) happy days.. went on to 42 ish by Feb 2000...

JRM - 12 Nov 2004 16:28 - 5 of 26

You could nearly buy the company for that now!!1

JRM - 15 Nov 2004 15:30 - 6 of 26

Someone's bought some!!!!!!!!!!

ChrisG - 16 Nov 2004 00:00 - 7 of 26

Can't think why!!!!

In response to an earlier request for comment as to why no excitement for DUC, perhaps people see much better value elsewhere. If you have to buy a small broker/corporate finance entity, perhaps WCW is seen as much better value. It is in essentially the identical businesses, has almost exactly the same market cap, but has shown net profits over the last four financial years, compared to the multi-million pound losses shown by DUC, and has consistently paid dividends, unlike DUC. Compare the most recent comments on trading too!

I'm not in WCW, so this is not a ramp, and this is a DUC thread, so I'll pipe down now, but you did ask for comments!!

Regards

I've looked at Wcw and I agree they look good.

I just think financial services are ready for a bounce and that's reflected in what I'm buying at the moment. Out of the two I still think Duc will do better but I believe both offer 50% upside if the markets remain bouyant!

Thnks for your thoughts -It's nice to make contact with others

The Express yesterday noted an increase in trading volumes

Got a bit of a thrashing today !

JRM - 06 Dec 2004 13:29 - 11 of 26

There really are mixed signals here. A profits warning that wasn't. Then a positive statement so the shares moved up a little!

Where now?

JRM - 07 Dec 2004 09:25 - 12 of 26

Come on or I'll have to buy more. I can't resist but my pocketsare empty!

Any thoughts?

JRM - 07 Dec 2004 15:26 - 13 of 26

I think we've turned and the last of the buyers have gone. Fingers crossed!!

JRM - 10 Dec 2004 13:21 - 14 of 26

Sorry, I didn't mean to brag. I'm just tired of holding gold when all others see is dirt!

Today, the market makers appear to be up to their old tricks. Widen the spread to slow things down and bring in a lump of cheaper stock before the next march forward.

JRM - 12 Jan 2005 09:25 - 20 of 26

What's happening?

It looks like a takeover to me!

Any thoughts?
