Annoying popups

pfieldhouse - 27 Mar 2005 10:54

Is anyoneb else fed up with the recent appearance of popups on this website? At least three are opening each time I enter the site! It feels more like a porn site now.

Come on Moneyam, get rid of the popups!!!!!

I think you may have got some spyware and adware and malware on your computer, its not the moneyam site.

Try downloading the Microsoft Spyware cleaner, it will clear all the problems up.

Just download Firefox as your browser (it's free) and you will never have the problem again. Ditch Explorer. Gates has enough money anyway, big geek that he is!

captainmerton, I use Firefox as well as IExplorer, although Firefox and the new Netscape 8 are good, there are many websites that will only run on IExplorer, so in some cases, you still have to use it.

There is your answer, pfieldhouse. Use both. I am so used to using Firefox that i would now find Explorer irritating. Cheers.

Or try the free version of Opera http://www.opera.com(you can configure the ads to be text-only Googles that are unobtrusive).

Opera seems to work with all sites that otherwise demand Explorer. This is where it scores over Firefox which otherwise I really like.

MM,

I have Opera, but use IE for streaming proces on MAM, as it doesn't work on Opera.

Is there a workaround to this please?

Whatever your browser, to get rid of pop-ups just download & install the free Google Tool Bar. It instantly stops advertisers pop-ups on all financial websites.

As you visit websites your own internet IP & email connection address gets grabbed by them for marketing information and sends a file to your computer that can also track which of their web pages are visited even after you have left their own website. This is known as spyware! To get rid of these files & cookies, download and regularly run a free program such as AdWare or SpyBot but IMO it is worth buying a program such as Spyware Nuker as you will also be sure to get the regular updates downloaded to keep your computer free of unwanted and obtrusive spyware threats.

Once your internet address is connected there are many computer security threat programs Trogans, Worms & Viruses and really needs an internet firewall to prevent your computer from being attacked and or infected. Symantec or McFee are worth having running on your computer whilst connected as these with regular updates available will block all security threats from all known trogans, worms & viruses.
