Has anyone else looked at the listing of IG Group (IG Index customers only i think). Any views or opinions ?

Posted an identical thread on the Traders Room.

My initial concerns are the numerous risks in Section III about changes in FSA regs. and any future Government Tax on betting.

I also believe that the are re-floating for over 3 times the market cap. they were bought out for.

Undecided though on what I will do.

Have just printed off the client application form. It states the offer price is expected to be between 112p and 139p, but could be set above or below this range. Minimum investment is 250 in multiples of 250. There is no guarantee you will receive the amount of shares you apply for and priority in allocating shares is according to the earlier the date applications are received. Closing date for the client offer is 5pm on 20th April 2005. Not wanting to make any hasty decisions on this one and in view of the risks involved I am going to sit on the sidelines for the time being.

re government tax on betting - this is a very difficult one for the govt - they took the tax off conventional betting and tax the bookie now - potential for them to do the same on spreadbet companies. highly unlikely to tax the spreadbetting client, the majority lose and if they tax it they would also have to make it tax deductible which would actualy make them worse off

personally think the govt will have looked at this but not found a suitable solution
