Superrod,

I applaude your attempt to engender discussion but quite frankly it seems to me that people are leaving mam in droves for some reason. I logged in earlier today and the last threads I looked at are only a 1/4 down the page with no posts whatsoever!

I think mam have been overzealous in their censorship and the bb might, I fear, be in a terminal decline. Hope not because I initially thought it had some potential. Nonsense posts from people like sequestor are permitted because he has subscribed, and the guy takes great pleasure goading everyone who disagrees with him and then hiding behind his shield. This pisses people off. Money AM need to be balanced regardless of who has subscribed, perhaps then chaps would take the bb seriously and return. You know how the British feel about fair play! We even go to war over it.

Still good luck with your thread.

Andy - 20 Jun 2003 22:07 - 24 of 61

macCavit,

I fear you are right, but for the opposite reason.

Ainsoph was posting here when the site opened, and there wasn't a problem.
Then certain people arrived, and started the baiting slowly, posting little "test" messages on Ainsoph threads.

Then the real action started, and at that point AM should have stepped in and banned them, IMHO.

They didn't and watched a personal battle rage, and nearly all the threads were trashed, but still nothing was done.

Finally, as the exodus from the BB increased, (and the combatants were copying posts between Am and ADVFN!), they finally stepped in, much too late, IMHO.

Sadly those that have left have yet to return, and AM has lost the chance to become the premier finacial BB, for now at least.

Andy.

UNBIEVABLE, a semi-legal ramping gang are banned and we are expected to believe that this has caused the death of MONEYAM- where do these people live,

dear oh dear.

Andy - 21 Jun 2003 19:00 - 27 of 61

Sequestor,

I presume you are Oldolie, Shagnasty, raving davy Gravy et al?

I actually never held any of the shares that Ainsoph posted on, not my area of interest, so although I read some of the threads, I never felt tempted to invest. Just becuase someone posts bullish or bearish posts about a company does not compel anyone reading to buy, although obviously it may arouse their interest in that particular company.

We are all adults here, and responssible for own investment decisions, so if someone is silly enough to invest on the strength of a BB comment alose, then that would be plain daft!

And if you're looking for "nearly legal ramping gangs" there are one or two threads On ADVFN that you may care to look at, take the last 300 posts on the MMD thread for example!

And you fail to mention the "ramping gangs" that employ the use of multiple logons on ADVFN, of which there are at least two that I can identify, but have obviously escaped your notice.

Andy.

macCavity
thanks for your input, if a few more like you posted we might have a fighting chance of making a decent forum here.
Andy
sequestor IS oldolie and he gets away with the crap he posts because he PAYS for the privelege. sad but thats the way the world turns.

doesnt mean we have to put up with it though. SQUELCH!!!!!!!

works wonders

Sequestor - 23 Jun 2003 22:04 - 29 of 61

Andy you assume wrongly about my aliases, but there again that is none of your business anyway, so I shall ignore the comment.
It was MAM who decided to ban those whom they did, not the posters who were critical of there attitude, I doubt if you or I will find out the real reason for the bans, they are obviously more serious than a few ill-chosen words by them.
I was commenting on your statement that "Sadly those that have left have yet to return, and AM has lost the chance to become the premier finacial BB, for now at least",
which is muddled, "they" are not being allowed to return it is not an issue of `when`, but never; will this prevent MAM from becoming a ` premier financial service`, doubt it.

ps for someone who has no interest in `the great departed one`and the subject is not ` in your sphere of interest, you are remarkably cognisant of his work and teachings, also of those who dared to contradict him; I have to bow to your superior knowlege on this occasion, personally the image of St. Ainsoph, seated to the right hand of Beelzebub, is enough schadenfreude for me to handle,I commend the image to you.

natzok - 23 Jun 2003 22:18 - 30 of 61

l like a gamble like you all,but instead of bickering why not use the threads on this site to benefit everyone.heres my first bet, coke cola to rise10%by sept

Andy - 24 Jun 2003 01:08 - 31 of 61

Sequestor,

My comment "those who have left have yet to return" actually refers to those other posters, people that were not involved in the battle, who simply left this BB, and have not returned. I agree that I did not word that well, as I meant other posters that have left the BB.

I can honestly say I do not know Ainsoph, but I have been on ADVFN for years, and as soon as I saw certain logons appearing here, I knew what was going to happen, and I wasn't wrong!

Just to clarify, I have NEVER held or traded TAD, or BT, in any shape or form!

I hold mainly resource / mining shares, which clearly aren't Ainsoph's field at all.

I have no "superior knowledge", just a desire to see this BB become sucessful, and that will only be IF they introduce a proper registration policy, (though I doubt they ever will). I would have thought they would have benefitted from ADVFN's mistakes, but alas not!

regards,

Andy.

Sequestor - 24 Jun 2003 09:16 - 32 of 61

ANDY

Tell me about mining shares , AVM, and PRE are the only ones I hold now, for my sins, altho` I did make a few bob on Palladium (the base metal not the co.) when it surged a couple of years back, ironic as a lump of my earlier career was in the industry.

good luck

superrod - 24 Jun 2003 20:24 - 33 of 61

Andy - 24 Jun 2003 22:11 - 35 of 61

Sequestor,

Funnily enough I also hold PRE, and AVM, amongst others.

PRE I bought several years ago, for 60p! LOL!
One of those short term punts that turns into a long term hold due to watching the price tank and failing to employ a sensible stop loss.

Actually, with the natural gas shortages and price hikes in the USA PRE may start to look interesting again, so now I'm happy to hold, and MAY consider a modest average down IF things start to improve, and natural gas prices there continue to rise in the autumn.

Avocet was more or less a punt after reading the BB, and from what I can make out, the mangement team seem a decent group, and as long as no political risks suddenly arise they may well improve shareholder value. They seem to have extended mine life expectancy in the past, and obviously one hopes they may be able to repeat such a feat.

My favourite share of the moment is Regal Petroleum(there is a short thread here, but not much info.) Regal are run by a Rumanian called Frank Timis, who managed to float RPT in London last year, which was considered a fair achievement in the market at that time!

Regal are extracting gas in the Ukraine, currently for the local market, but once they exceed a certain daily extraction level, they will become the ONLY foreign company with a licence to export, and that raises their revenue by 50% copmpared to the local market. This will happen in the very near future.

I hold some Oxus Gold shares, and they are looking promising as they have been turned round as a company by new management, who are now meeting targets, and expect a first gold pour before year end.

I am looking at the African Diamonds placing on AIM too, I am awaiting the prospectus.

Any thoughts on the above?

regards,

Andy.

gardyne - 24 Jun 2003 22:27 - 36 of 61

Andy,I see your Regal went up after floating.Do you see this happening with African Diamonds and where can i get a prospectus

Andy - 24 Jun 2003 23:39 - 37 of 61

gardyne,

To be honest until I've read the prospectus, i'm not sure!

The countries they operate in have a fair country risk, so maybe not.
(Although the same could be said about the Ukraine I suppose!)

I may just wait until they float, and buy on AIM

hi Andy
sounds like I bgt. PRE at about the same time as you- fools and money?-well in my case anyway, I like the sound of African Diamonds and will take a look( the first share I ever bgt, was De-Beers)
Just rumaged thro` some old stuff and found two more "short term punts" that went wrong-I still hold them in hope---------Desire Pet.&,GTL Resc.(I bgt. them when they were `Bakyrchic Gold`)

When`s that damned AVM going to do something? what a boring share.

Cassis - 25 Jun 2003 11:51 - 39 of 61

What keeps people going back to ADVFN is the ability to say, within reason, what you like.

The reason that I very rarely use this BB is that it is dead, and it is dead because they banned the posters who had an opinion. I'll keep my opinions for elsewhere, MAM is middle-of the road insipid nicey-nicey office-based share chat.

And sequestor, I ain't keith or the soph, I'm (in Andy's words) a protagonist.

Regards.
