Bioprogress (BPRG)

scorpion - 13 Aug 2003 13:54

Bioprogress is a stock I have been in and out of quite a few times since it floated in May but not much mention here on the Investors' Room. Does anyone else follow this stock. I see it is up 1.5p today and a few good buyers seem to have appeared.

Bones , read the traders thread across the road :-)

Gianni - 26 Feb 2004 11:48 - 201 of 2372

Seems that when it comes to some shares then charts, following rsl's, not getting attached to a share, etc., all go out the window. Potential is just that - what's the patent position? (can it be got round/duplicated easily?) - anyone know what the Japanese are up to? What if BPRG lose their patent lawsuit against Stanelco + what will it cost even if they win?

Fundamentals? Better by miles than PDX and even PRM but can someone explain that if the TOTAL revenues by the FMC deal = 86m, = 14m per year with a generous net 20% profit margin = 2.8m profit PA justify a 120m+ cap. In 6 years their patent will have long gone/been got round. More deals - assume they double the above - 10 bagger from 1.20 - I don't think so - best they can hope for is 2 imo with a new big deal. Forget the hype - look at the facts and wait for the deal. Mind you that won't stop the punters piling in but as I always say wtfdik.

Mind you I'm just jealous of these guys that got in at 40-50 and I missed it :)

Bones - 26 Feb 2004 12:18 - 202 of 2372

Gianni - you may be right to question 2+ this year and justify it. Even the long term die-hards over the road have never said it is a ten bagger in one year but over several. What they do argue though is that the product is one that appears to have the lead in its industry and "could" become an industry standard.

Certainly, its water-soluble film for pills is flexible, can be mass-produced with the company logo on each pill (preventing counterfeiting), can be made faster than today's methods, are gelatin-free, can control rate of absorption in the body, can carry more than one drug in a pill and be released at different times, etc etc. There are 4 separate technologies and FMC have collared one of them only. The OTC deal to come covers another one for the USA and EU. So plenty left to licence. They also have the ostomy deal with Bristol Myers Squibb already signed and likely to start producing royalties this year.

The very optimistic say that this scenario is Microsoft-like. So, yes, there is huge potential but many challenges lie ahead. However, the acceptance by FMC and others after much due diligence is an enormous vote of confidence and a re-rating was justified. The question is how do you value such potential? Opinions on "gone too far" or "in the price" are difficult to substantiate one way or the other.

Even so, if the price does fly this year, I will certainly take profits along the way.

Scripophilist - 26 Feb 2004 14:45 - 207 of 2372

If you are in it for the day, I woudl be tempted to cash out now with the weak start on wall street.

jays - 26 Feb 2004 15:07 - 208 of 2372

Nice post bones.
Have been in this stock many years, had some worries but have done much research on this. BPRG has some seriously good patents and some very determined people.

Dil - 26 Feb 2004 15:18 - 209 of 2372

If it fails at 140p then we could get a lower low , jury is out at the moment.

Scripophilist - 26 Feb 2004 16:26 - 210 of 2372

Looks like a surge of late buyers.

goldfinger - 27 Feb 2004 01:29 - 211 of 2372

Sell, wouldnt dream of it if the news I got through just now is correct and it was last time three days before the last contract annoucement. Mind it aint over until the fat lady sings. Things can go wrong at the last minute.

The news will come from across the pond. Cant say anymore. Yearly results in about a weeks time.

cheers GF.

Janus - 27 Feb 2004 13:02 - 214 of 2372

Bioprogress plans placing at 100p
Tim Freeborn
Announcement likely next week; placing at very deep discount

BioProgress Technology Internatinal(BPRG), the current punters favourite, is planning a placing next week at 100p. One investor was told he had to pay by next Wednesday.

In December the company raised 7m at 50p to fund the building of a factory to make its patented Xgel film.

The new placing is likely to coincide with a deal with a US maker of non-prescription medicines. This was promised by the end of January but has apparently been delayed because BioProgress concentrated on the link-up with FMC Biopolymer which was announced on 4 February and sent the shares soaring.

BioProgress has made a habit of raising money at a deep discount. It was floated early last year at 14p, around a third below its price on the Nasdaq OTC market. The December placing was also a third below its then price.

Late morning Bioprogress shares were down 2.1% to 135p. The company plans to post its preliminary results for the trading period from 22 May 2003 to 31 December 2003 on Monday 8 March.
