people do not have vision thats why the price is low, says one
another sold 307,000sh and wants the SP to go lower so they can buy back in again?
another wants the SP down to 2.5p so they can buy more, strange,
one more dip down i can load up again, lets hope they drop 0.001p for you so you make a killing ???.
bashers will slink away, WHAT BASHERS? are they the people that do not agree with you rampers, i think you should stop ramping this share now, i am long on SEO as i told you, but unless you can come up with some evidence that SEO are going to come good, something that SEO cannot do themselves then leave it out

Future prospects are irrelevant at the moment (except to the extent they are needed to convince sources of further funding).

All that matters is finding a timely acceptable solution to their funding needs - which may well fail, no matter how good future prospects appear to be.

My vote would be for an issue of redeemable preference shares with a coupon about 8%, convertible at 5p or so at holder's option, or at company's option if SP remains above 8p for any consecutive period of 30 days - something along those lines. So the debt cost is there without diluting existing SH's value and dilution can only happen when the rise in SP has counteracted the dilution.

To achieve this, they would have to demonstrate pretty much that material orders were concrete and nearly signed. Without that, I don't know who would be prepared to put in more capital without taking control of the company - the ultimate dilution.

I am not panicking, but will admit to bouts of controlled breathing - as much as rabbits caught in headlights can be said to breath at all. The week the SP fell though my stop loss of 13.75, I was unable to trade being away on business. Foolishly, I have sat and waited for the recovery ever since, watching 8p and 3.5p support levels disappear in succession.

I view my holding much as a lottery ticket - the possibility is huge, but the likelihood is zero. The risk/reward ratio makes it just about worth holding on balance at this price.

As the academic new year commences I have renewed my resolution to set stop losses and stick to them (unless, that is . . . )

Automatic,

I'm long on SEO too! Have accepted, from the outset, that this is a high risk stock and, although I would certainly not wish it to happen, realise that this company could very well go belly-up!

I should have gone in and out {with a percentage of my holding} more than I've done on the way down. If I had, I'd be holding nearer 10m shares rather than ~1m.

I believe SEO will come good, but why not accept the slide we've been experiencing for some time now and capitalise on it if at the end of the day it will turn.

Whoooooooooooooooooo

"Asda plans to use packaging made from natural materials, in the latest round of supermarket green initiatives. The retailer plans to replace environmentally harmful plastic trays, ready-meals boxes and wraps with biodegradable materials made mostly from starch.

"No one wants to buy organic produce wrapped in PET (polyethylene plastic)", said Ian Bowles, ASDA's head of corporate social responsibility, adding "We have to act quickly before we miss the boat". He also acknowledged that fossil fuel-generated power is needed to produce biodegradable packaging, but said that if there is sufficient volumes of production, biodegradable packaging will be commercially attractive"

hewittalan6 - 19 Sep 2006 12:01 - 20009 of 27111

Its took weeks but here is the unexpurgated question I asked Asda and their response to it;

Thank you for your message.

Thank you for taking the time to contact us.

We were very interested to hear your suggestions and comments have passed it onto the relevant teams here at ASDA House. We are always pleased to receive feedback from our customers and I am grateful to you for taking the time to contact us.

On the packaging, this is something we widely recognize as needs fixing, as our packaging is not that Environmentally friendly!! However next march we are re-launching our packaging to be Green Bin Friendly so customers can re-cycle all out packaging in the green Bin.

I hope we can look forward to serving you at ASDA again soon and if I can help any further, please let me know.

Yours Sincerely

Tracy Jackson

----Your Original Comments Were----

Dear Sir,
I read with interest your release on recycling and your intended aims. I regularly drive past your warehouse at normanton near wakefield and i have seen for myself the efforts you are making toward recycling waste. this is to be welcomed.
i also read about your drive to reduce uneccessary packaging on your foodstuffs.
My question is that I am told you have been trialing biodegradable packaging, yet we have had no news on this subject. I am very keen on seeing less reliance on oil based plastics, and a greater use of green fuel and plastics. Can you tell me if it is the intention of Asda to offer degradable packaging, or are you concentrating on reducing the volume of packaging and nothing else?
many thanks for your attention to this.
yours sincerely,

The interesting bit is the Next March - green bin. Does that sound compostible???

thanks for those posts

hewittalan6 - 19 Sep 2006 12:42 - 20011 of 27111

Green bin friendly??
That reads to me that not only will the plastic be biodegradable, but the packaging must be Greenseal to avoid the glues or PE layer that would make it non-friendly.
Heres hoping.
Alan

Thanks Patisear good article but this is more SEO spin; I think the crucial difference with Alan's email and the news article I found are that they are coming from Asda directly and this is different from the bull we have had from SEO over the years.

hewittalan6 - 19 Sep 2006 15:02 - 20015 of 27111

Before Beavis and Butthead point it out, neither post mentions SEO in any way at all. Neither does it have anything to say about SEO's finance. We must read between the lines for that, and reading between the lines leaves us all open to mistakes.
My take is this;
Asda have never announced, to my knowledge, co-operation with any other supplier of any biodegradable materials. I did say several weeks ago that my imaginary friend had said Asda were more turned on by the biodegradable, than by the machines. Even though, if Asda are sourcing their materials elsewhere, they will need GS to keep it ready for the green wheelie bin. If this is so, then its a winning situation for SEO wherever they source the packaging from.
On the financial aspects, SEO must have been able to convince both Asda and WM that they were here to stay, during their process of due diligence. It beggars belief that Asda would announce plans for 6 months hence with a business facing extinction.
Further, the idea of next March is for all their own brand goods. That should mean a fairly rapid roll out of GS, as there must be an awful lot of machines packaging for Asda.
I can't find the bad news here, but I'm sure someone will be kind enough to furnish me with it.
Alan

Driver - thanks, I keep watching! Might still take some convincing though.

"people do not have vision thats why the price is low, says one" . . .

reminds me of that incredible line of a few weeks bacK: "The reason the share price fell is because other investors are not as clever as we are."

I have no idea how clever I am (although today's jump on SOLA means that I am finally allowed to stop attending remedial reading classes!), but am still considering whether to jump in here. Not till the SP stops skidding though!
