Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

new penion rules to come in 2017 so the pensioners before then will be on a lot less
if they do not get pension credits it shows it once more saving will bite you on the pay outs in retirement .
two tier system and the ones that have done 44 years plus to lose out

idiot - you're being an idiot yet again .... any brit going abroad (europe) should carry an EHIC card and of course travel or other health insurance
=============
fred - God forbid that we should be governed by anyone similar to "village idiot" ..... ALL politicians may be self-promoting and gormless to a greater or lesser extent, but that is a long way from the loonies such as the above

Private health insurance is widely available and on the coasts at least there are many schemes specifically aimed at British ex-pats. Do read your policy carefully though as you may find some things you will need are excluded. Some policies only cover you for emergency treatment in the home and/or an ambulance to the local hospital for example and you may find that you have to pay for the hospital treatment after you have received it.

I can understand why some doctors would wish to be paid in cash before some consultations.

so you mean the spanish doctors only accept cash-in-hand? ..... now why would that be?
i dare say similar applies for any building work or similar that you want doing there too, but then i dare say you don't have a residence of any kind over there

Here we go again!
"President Barack Obama said last night that he would not negotiate with RepuHere blicans over raising the debt ceiling, declining to trade cuts in government spending in exchange for increasing the borrowing limit.
If the goal is to make sure that we are being responsible about our debt and our deficit - if that's the conversation we're having, I'm happy to have that conversation," Obama said. "What I will not do is to have that negotiation with a gun at the head of the American people," he told a news conference.
Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner has said that the debt ceiling will be reached between mid-February and early March. "

inevitably so i'm afraid ...... i don't think i need to repeat my comment about the weakness of the us system and the imbeciles (on both sides) whose only interest is getting re-elected
this is why i am happy to remain short dow, albeit that i got my timing a bit wrong
