THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Natalie Wood may have had bruises before drowning, says coroner

Actress died in 1981 during a boat trip with husband Robert Wagner and Christopher Walken
By Ben Arnold | Yahoo UK Movies News – 6 hours ago

A Los Angeles coroner has said that actress Natalie Wood may have had bruises on her body before she drowned.Wood... bruises may have been caused before she drowned (Copyright: Rex)

Her death was originally ruled accidental, but scratches on her neck, bruises on her arms and grazes on her face led her death certificate to be amended to cite the cause of death as 'drowning and other undetermined factors'.

[Related story: Washington was planning film with Tony Scott]

Wood drowned in 1981 while on a boat trip with her husband, actor Robert Wagner, and Christopher Walken, her co-star in the film 'Brainstorm'.

She had been drinking, and it is thought that she had slipped while trying to board the boat's dinghy.

But the case was reopened in 2011 when the captain of the boat, Dennis Davern, told a US TV programme that he had heard the couple arguing, had lied to the police, and believed that Wagner was responsible for her death.

“The location of the bruises, the multiplicity of the bruises, lack of head trauma, or facial bruising support bruising having occurred prior to entry in the water,” said Chief Medical Examiner Lakshmanan Sathyavagiswaran in the report.

“Since there are unanswered questions and limited additional evidence available for evaluation, it is opined by this medical examiner that the manner of death should be left as undetermined.”

Wagner said in his book 'Pieces of My Heart' that he had argued with Wood on the night she drowned, but the authorities have said that he is not a suspect in his wife's death.

Wood, who was 43 and had been nominated for Oscars in 'Rebel Without a Cause', 'Splendor in the Grass' and 'Love with the Proper Stranger', was found floating near Catalina Island in California.

Neigh Neigh! Horse meat found in Tesco beef burgers

HORSE meat has been found in large quantities in a sample of beef burgers sold in Tesco stores in Ireland.

Tesco, which has apologised to its customers, said the two frozen beef burger products in question were sold in both Ireland and the UK.

Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has revealed the presence of horse and pig DNA in a high proportion of products tested in a study examining the authenticity of beef burger, beef meal and salami products available from retail outlets in Ireland.

Traces of equine DNA were also discovered in ‘beef’ products in Dunnes Stores, Lidl, Aldi and Iceland stores, in Ireland, while 85 per cent of samples tested contained pig DNA.

Helicopter 'crashes into crane' in London

The emergency services are responding to reports of a helicopter crash in south London.

The London Fire Brigade said it had received multiple calls of a helicopter hitting a crane in Vauxhall.

Ex-BBC producer Paul Ferguson said the helicopter "plummeted straight into the ground". People have reported seeing a pall of smoke in the area.

Police said they first received calls at 08:00 GMT and the London Ambulance Service said it was also at the scene.

Mr Lucas said the men sometimes used extreme physical and sexual violence on the girls.

He said: "The depravity, and I use that word with care, of what was done to the complainants was extreme.

"The facts in this case will make you feel uncomfortable."

The court was told the girls were taken to empty private houses and guest houses where others would pay to have sex with them, often in groups.

The men came from as far afield as Bradford, Leeds, London and Slough.

The girls were also taken to other towns and cities, including London and Bournemouth.

Mr Lucas said: "The girls were usually given so many drugs that they were barely aware of what was going on. Indeed, they say it was the only way they could cope with what was going on.

"Between acts of abuse sometimes stretching over a number of days, the Oxford men ensured girls were guarded so that they could not escape."

The trial is expected to last until April. The defendants are all in custody.

The defendants are:
