As I'm sure you are aware, we and many of you have had a long and tiresome battle with Java when trying to use our streaming services. We have therefore been working on a solution to remove this problem.
We are pleased to announce that we have a new stockwatch available for use which no longer uses Java. We are currently making this available as a technical beta version, which means we are interested in your feedback regarding performance, bugs and browser/operating system/device compatibility issues (note: design and styling will be addressed in later beta releases).
For the purpose of allowing the old and new stockwatch versions to run concurrently, the technical functionality of the new stockwatch mimics the old one for now (not style, fonts or look). Editing and managing watchlists uses the same process as the current java stockwatch but is now at the top of the page. This will allow you to switch between the versions should you have any problems. All technical features of the current stockwatch are available in the new version
except for the ability to drag resize columns. In the near future and as we migrate away from the java version of stockwatch, we will add new usability features as well as design it up to make the whole stockwatch experience smoother than it has ever been.
As this new version does not require java, you should expect it to work on your android devices and ipad/iphones. For now the display has not been optimised for smaller screens, but this will come in future development.
NOTE: Due to javascript performance in Internet Explorer 8, this new stockwatch can cause high CPU load. We recommend you use a current version of a modern browser such as Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox for best results.
The new version can be found on the following link:
http://www.moneyam.com/stockwatch/beta.php
NOTE: Non java versions of streaming trades, streaming news and level 2 will be released over the coming weeks.
Please do not worry about design/style at the moment as this version has not been styled it is purely a technical beta test environment it will be styled before it is released. We have put this here purely for feedback on its technical functionality i.e does it work in your browser and on your PC/Laptop/Tablet/Mobile
Please post your technical feedback in this discussion thread
Thank you for your feedback and we hope you enjoy it

Update

ExecLine: Hi. It's not something we intentionally did when we developed this to be honest so a decision needs to be made by us.
To clarify, the data in the 3 trade columns relates to the last trade whenever it was, be that today, yesterday, or whenever. That data is provided to both the Java and the HTML versions, but it's apparent that a decision was made when the Java version was developed years ago to not show trade data if the last trade was not on the current day.
So, what I was saying was that as far as last trade data is concerned, the data in those columns is valid. However we don't show that data if it's not from the current day in Java, but we currently do show it in the HTML version. No trade data will be missed because on the correct day, that trade would have shown in the Java version.
With regards to keeping it or removing it, I'll do what is right in the eyes of the boss/majority of users. :-)

ExecLine: Are you saying that if you click a T link, you don't get sent to the Trades page?

Great improvement on the java version which was a real pain and it is much faster.. Adding or deleting stocks to the watch list is not a problem.
I think that the selection section ie change watch list etc. is much better placed at the top. It is easier to use rather than the need to scroll down to the end of the list.
I had a few issues that when switching watch lists I had to login again is spite of being logged in already
Thanks

Would it be possible to Capitalise The Names to make them easier to read? Would shrink the width too.
Selectable font size would be nice.
I have a 27in monitor 2560x1440 and font is too large / lacking sharpness.

2 (new) quotes that only give partial data under Java are completely absent under HTML5.

I like it. Quicker to load and more stable.

I use a Laptop running Windows 7 premium and Internet explorer 11.
The Beta version seems to run very well with better scrolling than the Java Version.
Would like to run the Beta version as the preferred method but at the moment I have to wait for the Java to load first before being able to select the new version.

ExecLine: Once you are at the trades page, it makes no difference how you go there, so this isn't related to the HTML stockwatch. I think what you are seeing is actually a problem with Java.
What happens if you click this link? Does it work?

I don't really want to get into troubleshooting this on this thread because it's not related to the HTML stockwatch.

bernardworm: As the beta version seems to have been very successful, it won't be long until we switch it to be the preferred version. You could bookmark the beta page for now, or just click cancel when the Java is loading.

RalphS: The reason those stocks show in the Java version is because it displays all the stocks you've chosen even if there's no data for that stock. The HTML version doesn't add the stock row until it has received data for that stock.
