rather than pick out individual stocks to trade, it can often be worthwhile to trade the indices themselves, especially in times of high volatility.

for those so inclined, i attach below charts for FTSE and FTSE 250, though one might equally be tempted to trade Dow or S&P, which is significantly broader in its coverage, or even NASDAQ

for ease of reading, i have attached 1 year and 3 month charts in each instance

CHINA
i find the most worrying thing about china is that it continues to churn out millions or even billions of $ of heavy goods (steel and suchlike) that no one actually wants - so they dump it

in the meantime, though published manufacturing figures are a bit weaker, i'ld bet in real terms (you want; i produce) it's an awful lot lower

very good construction figures or somesuch ...... but like you, i remain gobsmacked

after last night's rocket-surge, today looks to be quiet with perhaps some retrenchment
pays yer money etc

Get the feeling the Dow is going down and of course the FT "usually" follows, some bad news from Brazil was noted on the Radio about an hour ago did anyone else here about it as well.
