THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

A mother and her seven children have been jailed for 15 years for converting back to Christianity from Islam in Egypt.

Nadia Mohamed Ali was raised a Christian but converted to Islam 23 years ago when she married Mohamed Abdel-Wahhab Mustafa.

Following his death, she planned to convert back to her original faith, along with the rest of her family.

But a criminal court in Beni Suef, in central Egypt, sentenced them to jail for 15 years last week, according to reports.

Seven other people, who were involved in the case, were also sentenced to five years in jail.

Human rights advocates have now warned the sentence is a sign of things to come in Egypt under the Islamist government, according to Fox New

I have to be honest, I thought it was already alcohol free :-

Brewer of John Smith's 'no nonsense beer' is to water down its popular drink, while increasing the price by 2.5p a pint

TANKER - 18 Jan 2013 07:54 - 20295 of 81564

cynic - 18 Jan 2013 08:08 - 20296 of 81564

skinny - 18 Jan 2013 08:17 - 20297 of 81564

NHS is too generous to migrants, says GPs as many refuse to treat those who entered the country illegally
They warn surgeries 'can't cope' with rising numbers of overseas patients
NHS guidelines told GPs they had to register all foreigners including tourists
They would then be entitled to same NHS care as all other patients
But one GP warned of 'increasing burden' next with changes to controls

these migrants are destroying the nhs TB is back hundreds of cases in immigrants

skinny - there's a good number of micro breweries down here ..... our local one is Rebellion, and that is excellent, though i'm not a huge beer drinker at any time ..... Adnams from Southwold is also very good - i think it's now owned by Greene King, but none the worse for all that

skinny - 18 Jan 2013 09:12 - 20301 of 81564

Adnams is a fine brewer - their boadside is excellent.

Nearer to home to me is Westerham Brewery, although probably no longer a 'micro brewery' as such, offer a fine selection of ales.

HARRYCAT - 18 Jan 2013 09:23 - 20302 of 81564

Adnams owned by Greene King??????? I think not. Independent brewery with excellent beer, which sadly doesn't travel well, so usually only good as far as London.

As many as 2 million drivers could face £1,000 fines for failing to update the photo on their driving licence, according to the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA).
The photo on your driving licence needs to be updated every 10 years - and failing to do so would invalidate your licence and could leave you with a £1,000 fine if pulled over by the police.

But as many as 2 million have not updated their photo, leaving them vulnerable to a nasty surprise if stopped with an invalid driving licence.

The DVLA says it sends reminders out two months before a renewal is due.

A spokesperson for the authority says: "Appearances can change and it is important that photo card licences are updated every 10 years to ensure the police and other enforcement agencies have the best possible photograph to help them correctly identify whether a driving licence is being used fraudulently.

"This helps prevent driving licence impersonation – stopping disqualified and perhaps dangerous drivers taking to our roads."

What can you do to make sure you don't fall foul of the photo regulations?

cynic - 18 Jan 2013 09:58 - 20304 of 81564

you're right ...... for some reason, i thought it had been swallowed up, though Greene King would be a good guardian if it ever came to it ..... my local golf club stocks Adnams on tap

3 monkies - 18 Jan 2013 10:00 - 20305 of 81564

I have the old driving licence which expires in 2017 so this means I have to get in touch with the DVLA then - what next? More revenue I suppose, do you know how much a new one is? Much snow here, thick and fast it will be lovely under foot not.

skinny - 18 Jan 2013 10:04 - 20306 of 81564

The photo licences are mandatory from 2015!

Driving licence fines threaten two million drivers

3 monkies - 18 Jan 2013 10:05 - 20307 of 81564

dreamcatcher - 18 Jan 2013 10:05 - 20308 of 81564
